I'm rewatching the old anome episodes and I've realized something about them that is fucking obnoxious.
Anytime something happens, the character (usually the one having the action performed against them) has an internal monologue about what's happening, how its happening, and what the repercussions are.
Reiner is particularily guilty of this. During the entire fight with Eren during the second/third seasons he was comment about how Eren just outplayed him. "Wha...HE HARDENED!?! That means I'm at a disadvantage, this is not good!"
Zeke is guilty of this too during his round two fight with Levi in the manga. When Levi uses the tree branches as cover to his himself from Zeke, he explains Levi's tactics like the reader is a Mongoloid who can't deduce it themselves.
I also like how Armin is held up as a Strategic God when his tactics really boil down to "let's flank em lulz."
