Possibly . but I've always been insane so its fine. I'd really like him to not pull a Deus Ex machina because it'd be a hysterically terrible ending, with Mikasa insane, half the world dead, all the main cast dead, Reiner in eve more fucking misery, the world still wanting to kill paradis even more now.

(Except for Levi, sad for @Bunny Tracks)

I think the stupidest for me was Eren asking Mikasa what he meant to her, her blustering when she really never does to say No when she didn’t mean it, then Eren saying he hated her even though that’s bullshit, and then because of that stupid ass flubbering of words, Eren decided to go through with a mass genocide. It’s so contrived that it’s disgusting.

Its utterly pointless and serves no purpose. Eren could have easily transformed and murdered them all. Levi treated him terribly, didn't trust him (which got Levi's whole squad killed btw, because if Eren shifted and they had the back up of the Elites, they could have taken it. Instead people just die one by one.

Which everyone forgives her, even though she played with Scouts like a cat plays with a mouse and basically tortured and murdered them.

We've discussed how to make Eren genocidal. Though it requires much more callous treatment. He's rejected by all the scouts for being a freak. The constant threat of death looms over him and Levi is sure to put that at every opportunity he gets. The beatings in the court, 3his awful treatment, Erwin's desire to simply use him as a Pawn, especially when he fights Annie in a fully populated district, killing women and children. (Which makes him going full Dresden on Marley as a pearl clutching moment idiotic.

The story blithely follows Eren around, using him as its vehicle and even though eren is retarded, everyone is more retarded than Eren.

People will starve in the streets. More titans will come and we will simply not be able to deal with them or understand them. And then eventually, that little paradise you call your homes will be destroyed, and that will be the end of us here. So, which way forward do you chose: Fear and Death or Trust and Hope?"

1) Don't have Levi randomly beat up Eren, and just have the SC talk things out, and have Zackley give them the benefit of the doubt and award them custody of Eren that way.

2) Have Levi beating up Eren actually cause him to transform and accidentally kill a bunch of people, and/or have Levi arrested for assault/contempt of court/etc, and the SC is not given custody of Eren because of it.

That's it. It's not hard.

I thought the point of Levi beating the shit out of Eren was to show he was a loyal soldier who was no danger to the Eldians, even when retaliation would be justified, in order to save his life so he could be used as a weapon against the titans, although it's been like 6 years since I watched it.
