How will Eren be stopped?

How did we get to this point?

Up until about chapter 137, where Armin talk-no-jutsued Ymir and Zeke, the story mostly made sense in my opinion. The world hating Eldians made sense because they spent about two thousand years under the oppressive Eldian empire, followed by 100 years of being assaulted by Marley with titans and having what they thought was a sword of Damocles hanging over them in the form of a Rumbling from Paradis's royal family. Likewise Eren's motivation to wipe out everyone else to make sure the rest of the world couldn't wipe them out first also makes some degree of sense, as abominable as his actions were.

Now though, Eren has way too much power through time travel, as it's implied he sent Dina Fritz's titan to eat his mother, so why couldn't he just use time travel to fix everything? It doesn't look like parallel timelines are impossible in this context either, since that may be what Mikasa saw in the previous chapter. I thought maybe Eren might not have a choice in what he is doing, since the future was set in stone, which would have been ironic, since he is supposed to be all about freedom. I'm not surprised Eren is responsible for his mother's death, but I am surprised about how it happened. I thought perhaps he influenced Kruger into making sure Dina was turned into a titan, to make sure he could come into contact with a royal titan and discover the coordinate; notice how Kruger prevented Grisha from telling the soldiers she was of the royal bloodline. Eren could also have manipulated Kruger into making sure Faye died and Grisha lived on thus fueling his becoming a restorationist, becoming the Attack Titan, and having Eren. I don't think I'm the only one who has considered this; I think the "Attack on Titan iceberg" mentions Eren killing his own mother. Between this and the bird thing, it really is as if Isayama saw fans talking about these things and decided to implement them in the dumbest ways he could think of. Not to mention Worm-kun just vanishing. How could Isayama possibly have forgotten to address that? It's hard to get over that thing, which was the source of titan powers, just spontaneously vanishing from the story.

Also, as it turns out, Attack on Titan is a tragic love story apparently. It was a story about how a girl who was in love with a cruel tyrant (for some reason), served him in death and caused the plot to happen until Mikasa killed her love, thereby showing her how to move on... I guess?

Eren's genocide doesn't make any sense. If he never was going to complete it, and was willing to accept an uncertain outcome, wouldn't it have made more sense to just destroy the military resources? He may have even been able to fake his own death, so he could have his own heroes too. For that matter, why couldn't he just use the story-breaking time powers and manipulate Willy Tybur to tell the truth and protect Paradis before the story even started? This one chapter may actually raise more questions than the rest of the series combined.

I'm not convinced that this was the ending that was always planned. Isayama clearly planned the Rumbling, and the Attack titan's foresight, since Eren saw glimpses of the future in the first chapter and said that he would destroy the world while he was fighting Annie, but I think the finale may have changed for one reason or another. Didn't he saw that panel now showing Grisha holding Eren was supposed to be the last panel? I'm not sure how well that would fit as the very last panel. Granted Eren apparently saw Mikasa saying, "See you later, Eren," so who knows. Maybe this was always his plan, or maybe he made certain parts fit his new ending.

This ending feels like wasted potential. Couldn't you see an ending where he explains to his surviving friends why he did whatever he would have chosen to do and how even with the Attack titan he couldn't see everything. He could then say that he regrets those who have died including his friends, but he will do the only thing he can do, "Keep moving forward." He then takes Ymir's child sees the sun rising over the horizon, the endless vista of freedom he had seen through the Attack Titan and whispers, "You're free."

Well maybe the anime will have a different ending, but I shouldn't get my hopes up. Maybe I should just think about it this way:

Maybe the real Attack on Titan,

was the friends we made along the way.
Some have speculated that the plan was for Eren to kill everyone and that the implications of said ending combined with the pro-nationalist elements of the final third of the series, created a storm where Isayama had to kill Eren off and downplay the actual genoicide/tease that everyone finally moves on and makes peace, and invalidate Eren's entire arc to retroactively make him a loser so that people don't hold him up to be a hero to all of the "wrong people".

"Wait. You were actually expecting a satisfying conclusion? Ha ha ha, you should see the look on your face right now. It's absolutely priceless. Lol."

Him becoming a bird is the most corniest, fucking eye-rolling shit there is. Poetic? Get fucked, seriously. His entire motivation was to bang Mikasa, it had nothing to do with freedom. Isayama didn't give a singular fuck about this manga and did whatever he wanted. It is quite clear that he was told 'bro, you can't have a super racist kill the Earth and then a nationalistic island takes it over.' That's probably when he shrugged and just shit out whatever was on his mind that day.

TATACAW!
It's really cringe. Eren had the choice between ultimate freedom or death for his sins. Instead he's now a bird stalking his friends.
It's like something out of a shitty drama.

It really is

Dude could control the flow of time and can't even get pussy. I'm sure if I could fucking go back and forth through time I could fuck ScarJo, even if it took me a thousand years. Eren has this power and what does he do? Kills his fucking mom.

Fuck, I was right again when everyone in this manga was retarded. The only thing I was wrong about was that Eren was the most retarded one in the end.

EDIT:
In retrospect, when he was shouting "THIS IS THE ONLY WAY" to Hange, he's basically shouting "THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET MIKASA TO FUCK ME, I SAW IT" which makes it x10000 funnier.

Just think about how hilarious that is. All his planning was so he could figure out how to fuck his sister. All those people that followed him and died were following a dude who killed his mom, started this whole problem and just wants to bang his sister more than anything.

If you look at everything he does through the lens of just wanting Mikasa, the whole fucking story becomes a dark comedy. Honestly, shit, something like that could actually work if you wrote it like the old Greek tales or like Shakespeare. Like some serious complexes. For which there is no evidence that Eren has at all.

That'd be cool. But you'd need knowledge of actual literature, not just capeshit and popculture trash to write it.

How exactly? This ending has nothing in common with Dune.
I'm not a huge fan, so forgive me if I am wrong, but Paths seems like a shitty, yet somehow OP, version of what Paul and Leto could do with Prescience. Leto also transformed himself into an abomination and did some really awful things for a better future (the golden path). Paul compared himself to Hitler, IIRC, and Leto kills trillions. Hell, Eren and Mikasa seems like a really pathetic version of Leto and Noree, except Leto proposed to to his girl and succeeded in his plan, while Eren was turned down and stopped 80% of the way through. Maybe I am just dumb, but I think the retard wanted to make an animu version of Dune's moral ambiguous heroes and the idea of being bound by fate or foreknowledge.

I...I haven't seen such a terrible ending from Japan since the Bunny Drop manga. It's on that same level of terrible bad.

This is one of those endings that actually goes back and ruins the entire journey to get there. It's basically GOT season 8 all over again. (Great work that will be forever tarnished by that ending.)

I see where you are coming from, but as a Dune fan myself I really don't see it. Eren is too retarded to be on the level of Leto. Leto is the figure that took upon himself to become the god emperor to guide humanity through bad times. He doesn't do any evil just because. Also the powers granted to the kwisatz haderach don't allow time travel like paths. Noree is also a no go, since she was engineered to be Leto's obsession during the latter part of his reign, instead of Eren wanting to fuck his step-sister who was open to it the entire story. Also most people when they refer to the ending of dune they refer to the end of the original trilogy, where Paul rises to power and the jihad starts.

But enough Dune sperging.

I'm sorry, but the more I think about this the funnier it gets.

Things Eren had the courage to do:
  • Have his own mother crushed by a big piece of wall, and her own house, and then have her eaten alive by a titan while her children watched
  • Willingly traumatize his younger self by making him watch said event
  • Traumatize his own father into killing the royal family
  • Willingly torture himself both emotionally, mentally, and physically by causing traumatic events and by constantly cutting off his limbs, gouging out his eyes, and generally just mutilating himself
  • Go missing for months in a country that hated him and his race
  • Get kidnapped like three times
  • Get his friends get severely injured, and/or killed
  • Join the military at age twelve
  • Fight giant monsters
  • Commit acts of terror
  • Kill civilians
  • Kill two men when he was eight
  • Commit global genocide and kill literally 80% of the world's population
Things Eren didn't have the courage to do:
  • Tell Mikasa he loved her
What.
