NEW YORK (Reuters) - An attacker stabbed five people late on Saturday at a Hasidic rabbi’s home in New York state and fled before apparently being arrested, a Jewish organization said, a rampage that came after days of increased tension over anti-Semitic assaults.


All five victims were taken to hospitals, the council said, adding that two of the victims were critical, with one of them stabbed at least six times.

“The suspect fled the scene, but he is in custody at this time,” the Ramapo Police Department said in a Facebook post.

The police department confirmed that five people were stabbed and said that the investigation was going on. The department did not provide any more details.

An OJPAC official, Yossi Gestetner, told the New York Times the attack happened at around 10 p.m. during a Hanukkah celebration that was being attended by many dozens of people at the rabbi’s home.


About a third of the population of Rockland County is Jewish, including a large enclave of Orthodox Jews who live in secluded communities.

New York Attorney General Letitia James said she was “deeply disturbed” by the events in Monsey.

“There is zero tolerance for acts of hate of any kind and we will continue to monitor this horrific situation,” she said in a Twitter post.

New York City’s police department said on Friday its officers were stepping up patrols in heavily Jewish neighborhoods following a spate of anti-Semitic attacks.

“Hate doesn’t have a home in our city,” Mayor Bill de Blasio wrote on Twitter, calling the assaults attacks on all New Yorkers.

In more deadly recent attacks, a gunman killed a female rabbi and wounded three people during Sabbath services at Congregation Chabad in Poway, near San Diego, on the last day of Passover in April 2019.


Six months before that, a gunman killed 11 worshipers at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh in the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in U.S. history.

The Jewish holiday of Hanukkah commemorates the 2nd century B.C. victory of Judah Maccabee and his followers in a revolt against armies of the Seleucid Empire.

The work gets finished and the family does a chargeback for all the money paid to the builder. Big fucking mess. The builder needs to get a judgement from a rabbinical court before he sues the family, or he'll be excommunicated from the hasidic community. Once he gets the judgement, he can sue. The documentation is a huge fucking mess, of course, due to all the changes. The family counter-sues, of course, claiming shoddy work. The credit card companies are involved.

Multiple victims were stabbed at a Motzei Shabbos Chanukah party at the home of the Kossoner Rebbe in Monsey.

Five victims were stabbed by a black man armed with a machete after he walked into the home of the Rebbe (Rabbi Rottenberg), which is adjacent to his Shul in the Forshay neighborhood of Money.


Eyewitnesses tell YWN that the suspect fled in a vehicle and did not say anything before going on his rampage.

Hatzolah transported the victims to the hospital – one of them is in critical condition with a stab wound to the chest.

At around midnight, the vehicle was located in Harlem, NY, and a suspect was taken into custody.

Police sources tell YWN that the vehicle came over the George Washington Bridge into NYC at 11:02PM.

The vehicle is registered to a Greewood Lake address. Police reportedly also have the father of the suspect and are talking to him.

Chaveirim of Rockland responded to the scene as well.

Eyewitnesses tell YWN that people in the house threw multiple tables and chairs at the attacker while he went on his rampage.

He eventually left the home and attempted to gain access to the Shul. Thankfully, after hearing the screaming from the house, people in the Shul had locked the door.

Unable to gain access to the Shul, the suspect ran to his car and fled. Thankfully, someone chased him to his car and wrote down the plate number which resulted in an arrest two hours later in Harlem.

The attack appeared to be the latest in a string targeting Jews in the region, including a massacre at a kosher grocery store in New Jersey earlier this month and comes on the heels of EIGHT anti-Semitic attacks reported throughout New York City during Chanukah

Top state officials, including Governor Andrew Cuomo and Attorney General Letitia James, released statements condemning the attack.

Investigators cordoned off the large home on Forshay Road yellow crime scene tape as of 3 a.m. Onlookers gathered nearby and watched as officers collected evidence and worked to determine what occurred hours earlier. A number of police and emergency vehicles also remained at the scene.

Aron Kohn, 65, told The New York Times that he was inside the house when the stabbings occurred.

“I was praying for my life,” said Kohn, 65. “He started attacking people right away as soon as he came in the door. We didn’t have time to react at all.”

I lived near one in a new england state that they took over. It was mostly a run down black hood with a few albanians. They come in with NYC money and buy up all the empty and abandoned homes. Then they start pressuring and harassing people to sell. They make cash offers to landlords for homes and when they get the house they evict the blacks and bring in more of their jews.
They bitch about crime constantly and set up their own neighborhood patrols who drive around in golfcarts painted up like a police car and just harass black kids who literally dindu nuffin but walking down the street.
They are also very good at ripping off gibs. They don't live in the homes they own. They rent them to each other. And since they don't legally get married the mothers claim they are single mothers and get section 8 and EBT for their 5 kids. So family A lives in Family B's home. B lives in A's. They both get Sec8 and pay each other. Their homes all have driveways but they park on the street so the other residents who rent can't find parking spots.
Another scam they came up is claiming they are rabbi's and their large homes are synagogues to skip out on property tax.
They never register their cars in state. NY doesn't have property tax on cars where as my state does.
All this does it drive up car taxes more. The city boots the black guys rusty buick for tax bills or they can't renew their registration because of back taxes and end up getting it towed for driving with expired tags.
