Bob encouraged and guided Chris's strange delusions that Megan and Michael Snyder were the troll ringmasters, and that the Game Place was conspiring against Chris to ruin his life. He refused any kind of special education for Chris which led to him essentially spending his whole childhood window shopping for a normal life that he was incapable of instead of having a more realistic outlook with coping skills that could help him. He got Chris on disability and just gave up to let him rot in the hoard. Reasons unknown, but he also was estranged from most of his family which typically doesn't happen to superdad.

I don't think Bob was a bad man by any means. He did what he thought was best and what he thought was right, it just turned out a lot of those choices were massive misfires. By the time he probably realized Chris needed some kicking in butt, Bob was infirm and living in a hoard that contributed to his death. An interesting character but far from the all-knowing intelligent, kind, and wise sage that people sometimes describe him as. In the end I think he gave up and I don't blame him.

I’m pretty sure Bob counted on being able to send Chris off into the world to live on his own at around 18-20, but instead got saddled with a (literal) manchild that never got the tools and help needed to live as an independent adult - mainly due to Bob’s intervention when people tried to get Chris said things.

Maintaining any kind of standard of living.

He will be expected to clean up after himself. He may be tasked with doing chores sometimes. There will be tasks he is given that he must perform with no instant gratification.

He will NOT be allowed to slack off and do nothing but play with toys or draw or do whatever he feels like doing. It's going to be a literal work camp for Chris because of his non-existent work ethic.

I have run into that before, before I ever heard of Chris.

Chris was never parented, they essentially filled his time and mind with things like videogames, television, and rhetoric rather than actually giving him love and affection, constantly changing schools and locations to avoid the help Chris needed while instilling negative views of help within Chris. Same with how they handled his high school years, and his college years. The only thing that's got me thinking it's in some way considered medical as the location hasn't been listed like when he was sent to Western, but it might be something like a long term care or rehab facillity so close to HIPPA reporting but not out and out clinical like Western.

That's what I meant by routine though. Chris is absolutely lazy . He probably will hedgehog quite a few times when chastised for chores not done.

That said once he is doing those routines for months it becomes second nature. I've seen it happen a million times with people far worse than Chris. With a genuine authority figure instilling the routine I really do think routine would win out over Chris's hatred of responsibility and authority.
