autism hate thread

Thing is, are we including the broader 'spectrum' into autism (like Asperger's) or are we just sticking with your typical Autism

Irony of that being a particularly autistic question about this

'Tism and Ass Burgers are not superpowers. They're a curse.

Sure, sometimes it's interesting to be an encyclopedia of useless or niche knowledge. But it comes at the cost of being able to make friends, saying the wrong things at the worst time, and constantly feeling like an incompetent fuckup when you know you're not.

I hear you. I'm so over cutesy uwu stimming and masking discussions. Autism isn't just being a widdle cute baby with plushies and flappy hands and I feel like nobody cares when I say how infantilizing it is.
the disorder itself feels to me like being eternally stuck as a baby except if you're a ""normal"" autist you are an adult stuck inside a baby stuck inside an adult. imo the plushie stimmy species kinda just skip the first layer because of a lack of self awareness or something. really embarrassing

the last part is funny because you as an autist Think you might be able to get a job or degree in whichever area you have an interest but functioning in society might involve a bit more than just knowing a lot about something. like, everything else you said. (i also have adhd so ngmi even without the social retardation)

Who the hell watches that garbage?
Honestly, mental health tags on TikTok are godawful, just in general.

I'm actually not going to go the usual route and say they're full of munchies (except for DID, but that's a given). There are some, but they're usually obvious and most will admit to being self-diagnosed. The real problem is that having a mental disorder doesn't rule out being an attention-whore peddling misinformation about and/or romanticizing said disorder. Depending on the condition, it can actually make it  more likely.

TikTok's great if you want to see someone doing skateboard tricks, watch some dumb memes, or listen to short clips of songs. It's a shitty source for information about serious mental health concerns.

I used to hate being autistic, but I eventually came to accept it. I don't wish to be "cured", because then I wouldn't be me. If there's anything I hate about having autism, it's the way that society treats it: you're either infantilized by those who assume you must be unable to learn or adapt to others, or (increasingly) you're patronized by those who think that you shouldn't have to (encouraging autistic people to "celebrate" their autism by not adapting their behavior to the needs of others will invariably set them up for a lifetime of failure).

We should all feel some level of deference to autism though. Without it, this site couldn't exist.

I have ADHD. A lot of spergs get on my nerves. I have pretty good intuition and charisma maybe. Midwit.

Downies will conquer Earth.

What's with spergs and always saying "epic" or "thingy"?

What the fuck is with everyone I know claiming to have autism all of the sudden?

With the amount of people putting "Autism" in their bio, you'd think there's a bigger pandemic going on than COVID.
More misdiagnoses so Big Pharma could sell neurotic pills.
