I'm a functioning adult. Full-time job, live independently, college educated, etc. That's not the problem. I just have dogshit people skills and don't want to interact with other more than I have to.the last part is funny because you as an autist Think you might be able to get a job or degree in whichever area you have an interest but functioning in society might involve a bit more than just knowing a lot about something. like, everything else you said. (i also have adhd so ngmi even without the social retardation)
Being diagnosed with and treated for AssBurgers at an early age sucks. The school accomodations are often done by the tardwranglers, which heavily reinforces the notion that you're "different".
In other words, it implies you will never measure up on your own; that you are a perpetual outsider and that your peers will never truly accept you, only tolerate you; and that your successes can only come with someone else holding your hand.
It's degrading and insulting to your intelligence. It has made me neurotically independent and averse to asking for help, even when doing so would be reasonable.
