I think it's quite relevant. It's a bit of a caricature, but one the pro life movement has never properly quashed decades later and carries a good deal of truth.

People are going to have sex, people are going to get pregnant, but the pro life movement is also tied to a party strongly against offering support for actually raising a child and activley encourages social stigma against those who do choose to have a baby rather than abort and hide their mistake.

On the other hand, the pro choice platform is ghoulish as @Cosmug says, but at the same time at least they're consistent and do address some if not all the symptoms of a problem.

Alright then, please show me a single quote from this thread where any of those views are seriously espoused by people who are against abortion.

This is beyond infuriating. How can anyone think this is acceptable? And of course a chink is one of the people behind this. They do disgusting shit like this in China all the time.

Also, I love how the father has no say in this whatsoever. They just have to sit back and watch their baby die. "Too bad, my body, my choice"- even though the baby is no longer in my body and that argument has always been one of the flimsiest ever in the first place.

Honestly, if they were looking for a way to overturn Roe v. Wade, I could see this doing it. If hell freezes over and this passes, I can see this going all the way to the Supreme Court.

Take Planned Parenthood as a prime example. Abortion is a minor service they offer, in fact not all of their clinics even offer it and the vast majority of their funds are spent on sex education and contraception.

Now contraception causes fewer babies, but OH NO! Christians are offended! Rather than focus on abortion, let's purge America of one of the services handing out condoms that actually prevent unwanted pregnancies to start with because Jesus hates rubbers.

There are others, but I trust you get the jist. We could talk about the cost of actually giving birth, we could talk about women who can be fired for having children out of wedlock, we can talk about the lack of support in regards to maternity leave. All of these factors contribute towards the choice of an abortion, and yet because they might cost money they're ignored and the argument focuses almost entirely upon "Jesus said", because Jesus of course isvery silent and by shocking coincidence always seems to agree with the Republican parties economic policy.

As a disclaimer, I am against abortion, but I view the pro life movement as a Thecon arm of the republican party for the most part entirely detached from reality.

The problem now is that even as the Religious Right continues to fall out of power with mainstream conservatism, the anti-RR people are still proposing/passing laws as if it was still 1990 and Pat Buchanan was still on the Presidential ballot as a viable challenge to your "average" Republican, and insane "ABORTION UBER ALLES!!!!" stuff like this is the result.

I NEVER, in a million years, thought the pro life boomer "the liberals will take abortions and apply it to babies" tangent would ever be close to being put into a freaking bill itself. I'm pro abortion, up to a certain point, but this is plain child murder. Once its born, it is a human. Unless it has some undetected incompatible with life mutation, euthanasia shouldn't even be considered.
