I just realized, Starfield went away with skillpoints and focused on only giving you perks exclusively thru level ups like Fallout 4. Skill checks could only be influenced thru these perks or your starting traits. Likewise, Avowed barely has anything going for it skillwise, and what perks you do get largely just increase your combat potential. Most of the skill checks I've seen in dialogue relate to either your background or your primary attributes(ie SPECIAL). I don't think there even are any non-combat skills, I mean there is no stealing anymore. This means that ultimately, dialogue speech checks feel very modern-Bethesda, if not like Starfield then just like Fallout 76, which is even worse. No more non-violent character builds that could push their skill points towards non-combat skills, you just get flavor text if you chose the right checkmarks at the start of the game.
This has to be the most dumbed down Obsidian RPG yet, Which other game of theirs only let you kill things and nothing else, Dungeon Siege 3?
