Law Backpage has been seized

We have just lost cabin pressure.

Backpage was seized because the Communications Decency Act was amended to allow LEO to pierce the veil and come after hosts and services when users had broken the law. This may seem trivial, but the CDA's safe harbor provisions is what enables every site that exists and allows user-generated content to be self-published.

4chan? At risk. 8chan? At risk.
Encyclopedia Dramatica? At risk. Kiwi Farms? At risk. Every other web forum? At risk.
Facebook, Google Plus, YouTube, Twitter, Gab? At risk.

If the CDA continues down this path we will see our largest export (culture and technology) be swiftly transplanted to other countries with safe harbor provisions.

I don't give a shit mate. This is the first step towards walking off a cliff. The fucking feds themselves own several Tor child pornography sites; "protecting the children" is a bullshit fucking lie.
This.

90% of all CP sites are either honeypots themselves or being watched by the FBI with a diligent eye.

This issue has nothing to do with CP anyway, it has everything to do with liability of hosting content that you don't create. A user could go shoot up a school and the site he posted the threat on could be shut down and the owner imprisoned for hosting the threat.

First they came for the trannies, and I did not speak out. . .

Because I knew traps were gay.

Then they came for the camwhores, and I did not speak out. . .

Because thots be gone.

Then they came for the furfags, and I did not speak out. . .

Because they can yiff in hell.

Then they came for the channers, and I did not speak out. . .

Because OP was a faggot.

Then they came for me - and that was fair enough because I dun goofed.

LEO confirmed new member of Pierce the Veil - Source: Null

Oh shit, looks like the leftist's dream is coming true with the big government closing the sites they deem unf- Oh, trannies and honest-to-god independent sexual workers advertised themselves there? Oh, no... And the act puts at risk every type of free speech site under the sun? Damn...

I could really use an AR-15 right now

Bah, who am I kidding? I'm not american, I should be concerned about our own economy crumbling down rather than this.

So long story short, the law has been amended so that null and/or hosting providers can land theirselves in dogshit when us autistics post something the feds don't like?

And people should be concerned because it's putting that toe over the line of what's justifiably right and wrong. Null or KFs service providers have zero influence on what's said here, and we all accept that. But you call someone a filthy nigger its nulls and the hosting companies ass on the line, not yours.

And seeing as you can't post to what's been taken down on guilt by association, where would you post next?

Take for instance, vordraks waging war against KF. If this becomes the norm, all he needs to do is post some illegal content to the website and it's shut down. Even if null has no idea it was posted, him and the service providers can land in deep shit.

TBH I'm surprised this didn't happen earlier.
Not commenting on if this is good/bad, or if it'll set a precident, but this site is so well known as the Craigslist for whores that god damned Chris Chan got a prostitute through it.

People aren't especially concerned about the sex worker aspect of it, though. It's the powers which are being given to both US and foreign law enforcement to do a whole heap of shit without the need for court orders or warrants. It effectively bypasses the actual laws which protect people.

Is posting screen-caps of Zinnia shoving things up her butt going to get us shut down without notice now? A non-trivial amount of the cows we follow are "sex workers". Does capping their promotion of themselves put us at risk?

The administration has a really specific focus on human trafficking which I appreciate a lot, seems like the reason for the raid. I think that part is great. I know some sites might be at risk under obscenity laws, but I doubt KF is going to singled out. Stranger things have happened, but I don't see much reason for it to happen. The chan websites have problems with CP being posted, KF does not (to my knowledge). I am also wonder if KF would be considered a valuable resource for finding information on people who are pedophiles and pimps.

That is 100% what was happening. Pimps force girls to set up shop (on a corner or backpage or whatever) and take all the money the johns give the girls under threat of violence. Most are under aged. That's the normal way prostitution works in most of the country.
I don't think the feds give a shit whether or not we're exposing pedophiles for the inhuman trash they are. To them, child porn is child porn even if it helps them take down scumbags. Which in this case I don't think happened. Not sure what the full details are like.

At this point, I just don't get why they just cut down the internet for the world if they're going to go Big Brother on any given website. Which also begs the question- Would the FBI be able to get overseas servers taken down?
