Bad/mediocre anime with good openings

I wouldn't call the show outright bad but Bokurano. I love the manga but the anime kind of numbed and changed some of the heavier aspects of it so it didn't hit quite as hard. Animation and direction were also a bit weak, not terrible but I don't think studio Gonzo is the best for action scenes (CG mechs especially looked a bit off). Kind of a shame cause I feel it could've been really something in different hands.

That being said the anime has one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Probably in my top 10 for anime openings honestly, really haunting and addictive

The 2nd ED was really good too (also by Chiaki Ishikawa):

Lunar legend Tsukihime

Excellent manga and a good supernatural romance visual novel but the anime is terrible. It's especially sad considering how A list the dub cast was. They really did try, but there was simply nothing to grab onto. The studio had no experience animating fight scenes whatsoever. The environments and talking scenes were good but as soon as anybody got into a fight it was the most half assed shit you could possibly imagine. There's maybe one min of decent fight footage in the last episode.

Id recommend the filler episode at the end where they all hang out at the carnival though. That was solid. Music is absolutely incredible and deserved better.

Sometimes I just browse this endlessly. It really underlines how "Platinum Games" modern anime has become. Zero soul but clearly the quality is up there. It's good, but it's 7/10 good. Even the rare banger clearly doesn't have superior animation work, it's just a bit more well developed (or they weren't pushed to suicidal crunch)

This ED got stuck in my head. Anime definitely ob the mediocre side, but god damn the visuals and song are fun
