What stake do play on? I'm up to black.
 
Can you play for money (I mean poker style, not against the bank)? Is there some strategy to it?
 
I do NOT play this game, I do NOT enjoy it. Anything to the contrary is COINTELPRO.

I am on gold stake on checkered deck.
Honestly game is fun up till black, Orange is fucking pain.
Plasma Deck and Erratic deck are worth it though.

No. It is just 5 card hold video poker with a rouge like element. Yes, there is a strategy. It would require multiple pages to explain, but the summary is...
1. Use jokers that introduce repeats(Hack, Hanging Chad, Sock & Buskin), increase a cards viability(Hiker), and spawn rare cards(Certificate Joker, Stone Joker) that are useful.
2. There is a limit on joker based gains, You have to modify your deck extensively.
3. Keep money in the bank above $25 at all times. You need rerolls and interest. Get economy jokers going early.
4. Focus on small hands, they tend to be more viable and far more rewarding, especially with utility jokers. Avoid the meme hands unless you modify your deck for them, they are really poor gains, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poker_probability
5. Always take negative jokers. Even if they "suck". They may surprise you.
6. Try for joker feeding strats(Hologram fed by Stone or Certificate, Vampire fed by Stone Joker), but beware if you rely on matching hands(More cards, less probability you get what you need).
7. Most powerful Tarot cards are modifiers: Strength, Death, Sun, Moon, World, Stars. They can unbalance a deck for good hands.
8. CARD/JOKER ORDER IS CRITICAL! Cards are triggered Left to right. For Jokers, put the chips on the left, Mult add in middle and Mult X on the right. For Cards, reorder your selected hand for the best card to be triggered first!

My friend who introduced me to it described it as a "rogue like with cards" and it's pretty accurate. It's a fun game

I have 4 decks up to purple stake, typically hit a wall and start over with another deck. Purple and beyond is hell.

Fun game. I wish they would make real updates with new content rather than cringe indie game cross promotion. I beat the basic stakes with most of the decks and don't really see much incentive to continue on the harder difficulties, other than booting it up every now and then when I feel like playing a couple rounds. Still worth getting if you like poker.

Here's a neat thing I saw the other day that you guys might find interesting.

Have done Gold on the first three decks and also plasma.

Working my way through the rest of the decks just now.
