Baldurs Gate 3 is gonna be another divinity clone

Thinking about it, what's the point of having 5th edition DnD game? Like, the advantage of 5th is that it makes roleplaying a lot faster by cutting the fat, but playing on a PC you have the computer to do all the rule lawyering for you, so having a simpler system just removes a lot of tactic from battle.

WotC still sells 5e books and they don't sell 2e or 3.5.

5e character building is more interesting and better balanced then 2e or 3.5e* unless you compare it against all splats and years of table rules that makes them actually pretty fun.

*especially since a lot of the bullshit that makes full casters so powerful in tabletop will never work in video games

I also think it's more interesting from a dev perspective to make a good 5e game since you're never going to make the best 2e, 3e, or 3.5 game because those are all taken. And no one wants a 4e game except dragonborn scalies.

4e was already a tabletop mini game, I honestly wouldn't mind a proper digital version...

I've never understood what niche War Priest in 3.5pf was trying to fill. Cleric is a guy in heavy armor that casts spells well and hits people with melee weapons, but not very hard. Paladin is a guy in heavy armor that casts spells alright but hits people harder then a cleric. Fighter is a guy in heavy armor that hits people really hard but can't cast spells. Between these three classes you should be able to find a combination that fits that niche pretty well. Forge/War/Tempest clerics and pretty much any paladin archetype other then the goofy pacifist one now that paladins aren't always LG should pretty much scratch that itch.
War Priest gives you more martial options without giving up on caster levels and also has some neat built in unique perks and expands the domains you have access to. In fact from what I can tell 5e gave up on prestige classes altogether. That entire class section looks pretty anemic and while yes, it's sort of true that it got out of hand a bit in previous editions throwing it all out seems dumb to me, they used to be able to make it work and newer games are supposed to have more shit, not less shit.

This is a videogame after all that could easily handle more shit, you just have to put in the buttons and it does all the heavy lifting. If I'm just supposed to take the warts and all from a tabletop game I may as well get the Pathfinder one since that offers me a lot more classes and options to play with. It's still not a good game mind you but at least for putting up with that I get so many builds and shit.

I just don't like 5e apparently.

Have they added more to this game yet? I did the evil path and got cucked straight away with a 'THIS PART OF THE MAP ISNT FINISHED YET LOL'

Not that much, no. A new class, some more dialogue here and there, a bit of polish to a few quests, and tweaking of various mechanics. They originally said the EA would never go beyond the first act, so you'll probably have to wait until the full release for any substantial new content.
