I saw it recently, thought it was pretty fun. Not the best film ever but certainly not terrible. The acting was good and it was all around kind of silly and tongue in cheek. Certainly a feminist film but I wouldn't call it "man-hating". The cinema was packed with largely couples and families, which was nice to see especially considering how badly COVID and streaming fucked cinema. It's nice that this and Oppenheimer have had such good marketing. Good for them.

I respectfully disagree with you on the quality of Barbie as a movie, but I do agree with you on the marketing of this and Oppenheimer. That said, both 2022's Top Gun and Avatar's respective sequels were equally as marketable and help people go back to theatres in a COVID era

Or as the hosts in the video end up concluding, it comes off in a similar tone deaf "don't do this cool thing" as with the Starship Troopers movie that was meant to be a "anti-war fascism bad" movie by that dutch faggot direct and in fact ended up just as a great action sci-fi who most people never realized was meant to be parody because he thought everyone magically had his same perspective and opinions to get the point.

So similar to how Rorschach was supposed to be written in Watchmen as a bigoted extremist by Alan Moore, but instead comes off as far more relatable and realistic than many of the other characters in the comic/film?

I remember people saying Alan Moore was annoyed Rorschach being so popular.

No you don't understand he's pure EVIL!

I still dont get how people fell for it, Greta Gerwig makes absolute femslop her whole career and her husband made a Marriage Story, it was obvious what it was going to be to anyone remotely aware of the current industry.
Because no one watched those films or has any idea who Greta Gerwig is. People just saw Barbie, thought it would be a dumb film and went for the meme of seeing a shit movie based on a toy property because Hollywood really has sunken that low. The audience of this film are the same people who wore tuxedos to Rise of Gru and inflated that film's box office.

I'd say this similar effect occurred when Joker came out in 2019, but I remembered that it was the film that the media feared during a time big name tragedies had happened (most of it was linked to the actual 2012 mass shooting in Auroa, CO during one of its theatres' screening of Dark Knight Rises a few years prior), but the memes of it was huge even before it came out.

The marketing is more akin to Boss Baby and Cocaine Bear.

Joker did well as it was a political film that arguably played to both extremes, had an iconic dance scene and was connected to the biggest capeshit IP outside of Spider-Man in the biggest year for capeshit. The media coverage really helped it as well as finally Hollywood had some balls and seeing a movie was against the man for the first time in many Zoomer's lives.

The movie would've made a lot more sense if the "real world" that Barbie goes to was Saudi Arabia or something instead of Venice Beach.

You know, I wasn't sure if everything that I was hearing about the movie being woke trash was true until I ran a search and saw the same pattern that we've been seeing for the past 8 years or so in the search results populated by the shill media.

Seems the consensus is Ken stole the film from Barbie, which is hilarious for a movie that tries to be woke and fails miserably. Now I really want a Ken with a Gosling head sculpt and the pimp coat he wears in the film. If /pol/tards had a sense of irony they'd pretend to be girls/women, demand Mattel release the prop Ken doll in the film and make sure they sell out.

Really disliked how they pretend Barbie was the first fashion doll ever and an original idea; like I posted earlier and the video @InJailOutSoon references, she's is based on the Bild Lili doll from postwar West Germany.

Plus Joaquin Phoenix. That dude is practically the Elvis of acting in current year. Nobody can stop him.

There’s people on Twitter utterly furious that the most loved character in their “feminist Barbie” movie is Ken and I find that hilarious.

I still don't know who Greta Gerwig is and I saw it coming a mile away. It's a movie made by Hollywood about a doll that's been the focus of dumpy, sexless feminist ire for decades. There was exactly one path they could have taken, and that was "girls are magical and perfect and heckin marginalized ughhhhhh boys are just so uggggggghhhhhhhhh".

Even if they had just tried to make a dumb toy movie a la Lego they'd have been shit on mercilessly by the arrested development upper middle class American women propping this garbage up for social media likes. They knew who their audience was and they knew exactly what flavor of slop to shit into their bedazzled troughs.

Just saw the movie with my wife, lots of muh feminism stuff and a few women clapped at the feminist speech. Ken stole the show though and that ken battle/danceoff was the best part of the movie.

Generally I'm of the opinion that if you expected this not to be pozzed then you're retarded but it's less pozzed than I expected in making ken a sympathetic character who just wants love and self actualization. That being said, this is definitely not for children. Sex jokes, censored swearing, feminist stuff was too much.

As an aside the idea of girls destroying their baby dolls in favor of Barbies is hilariously misguided in my experience, little girls are more attached to their dolls than most black mothers are to their kids

There are retarded incels chimping out about this movie in their 50s and shit, who somehow think it is pernicious feminism that there's a movie where a child's doll character is in a Girl Power film, but somehow, the retarded idiot males in the film immediately take over the instant they feel like it.

Much feminism.

I don't care what retards say, nobody is going to convince me that the chimpout about this dumb film is somehow less autistic and retarded than throwing a temper tantrum about My Little Pony. These niggas are gay!

Remember when Bratz were popular?

I wish I haven't.

It's interesting reading what /tv/ is making of the movie.
Imagine what a faggot you have to be even to be a lone adult walking into a theatre trying not to look like as much of a pedophile as you are. What the fuck actual normal males are even attending this movie?

Someone should do a serious dissertation/analysis on the effect of literally me/unintended reverse propaganda because its all incredibly fascinating.

Ranging from individual characters like Joker, Rorschach, Patrick Bateman, The taxi driver from taxi driver and the driver from drive, entire properties with bioshock, fight club, starship troopers, or in some cases even literal propaganda.

Liberty Prime was meant to be a parody but people earnestly cheer him on. Same for keep your rifle by your side (and ofc starship troopers).

Is society truly so divided that people can literally look at the same character and see night and day? Not only that, but stuff that are meant to be earnest insults don't even register as such and are instead viewed as unironic compliments.

Someone believing in something and acting on it is the essence of heroism. You can't twist it into something people won't admire.
