Go watch game 7 of the past world seriesI've been trying to understand the appeal of baseball since, kinda like cricket, it seems to be a very sedate and slow-paced (dare I say "boring"?) game. Still, millions of fans can't be wrong, so I figured I must be missing something. I have been watching Ken Burns's seminal documentary on the sport, and have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. Still, it mostly seems to be focusing on baseball as a cultural phenomenon, a kind of pillar of Americana, rather than as an exciting game in and of itself.
I'd like to ask you guys what you find appealing about the sport of baseball. What's the hook? What are the most enjoyable aspects of a given match? And could you recommend any particularly noteworthy historic matches for me to watch?
Thanks in advance.
