Baseball Thread

I'm flabbergasted it actually happened. Did their moneyball magic all of a sudden just run out? I know it was really windy on Saturday, but the Rays defense was dogshit. And Randy Arozarena has the bases juiced twice and couldn't do shit with it?
I can count on two hands so far this season where the Rays have had bases juiced and done nothing. Not an exaggeration. Randy is regressing. Team has no one who speaks English. No leadership. Cash is a moron.

Ultimately nothing will change as long as that tight assed kike Stu Sternberg owns this team.

speaking of the Rays, their city connect jerseys were revealed today and IMO they're terrible (like 90% of the city connect jerseys).

i kinda like the hat logo, but skateboarding is a weird choice and what is with half these city connects being black? they all look like awful softball uniforms.

side note Kevin Cash is a terrible manager, the only 3 jobs a manager has is

1: make game decisions and all of those are done by algorithm now so he's not doing that.

2: be a leader and make sure the team doesn't get down (we saw how that went in the playoffs last year where one inning in and the rays looked like they had already given up before even coming up to bat)

3: handling the media which he does... ok? it's not exactly boston or new york so there's not tons to handle to begin with.

Both Braves and Mariners had no hitters going into the seventh.

EDIT: Mariners get a 2 run homer in the 9th to win the game, 2-1.

Luis Severino also had a no-no going into the 8th inning before giving up a hit to Dansby Swanson. Such a shame that Edwin Diaz gave up the home run that let the Cubs win. Great performances.

The last time Trout was healthy enough to play past 150 games was 2016. 8 years...really does feel like an eternity.

The guy just can't catch a break. Maybe if it was one injury-ravaged season I'd get it, but this guy is clearly breaking down and it sucks for Baseball.

Jose Siri is the worst saltwater nigger I've had to watch IRL. Lazy showboat, strikeout machine, and punches like a girl.
Honestly I'm glad he at least started some shit because I think they absolutely hit him on purpose. Even if in the end he probably just ended up getting hurt more at least he didn't just take the HBP and leave it at that.

None of that changes the -43 run differential. He deserved the hit. He gazed at that home run like it was a WS GS walk off, meanwhile the team is getting shellacked.

The Rays might be the worst team in the AL not named the White Sox. I'll be at the Trop for the Mets this Friday but I don't think it will end well.

HO LEE SHIT
My Rangers got bases loaded no body out TWICE, couldn't get run. Not even a sac fly? Really? 11 Left on base. 1-8 RISP. We were given SIX walks, and nothing. Andrew Heaney played his heart out, 7 innings with one run and he gets the loss. SO, FUCKING, FRUSTRATING.

Games like this are why I don’t give a flying fuck about “Wins” as an evaluation metric for pitchers.

This guy takes a loss and some shit head who left the game after 6 innings and giving up 12 runs gets a “win” because his offense put up 13 and the game ended like that.

Nolan Ryan forever. One of the very greatest pitchers to ever do it and fuck anyone who thinks otherwise and wants to discredit him for playing on some horrible teams.

I think the biggest problem in evaluating pitchers today based on wins is because they don't pitch that many innings. It was never an oddity to have your starting pitcher go 7.2 or 8 innings before bringing in a closer. Relief pitchers were for really bad outings that could at least get you through defensively while your batters tried to get something going. Now pitchers are throwing for MAYBE 5.2 or 6 innings, 7 if they're facing a swing-happy lineup that is either striking out consistently or hitting balls for flyouts/lineouts. And it certainly doesn't have anything to do with toughness, because the modern pitcher is throwing some massive velocity-addled shit. But therein lies the problem: focusing more on velocity than a pitcher's ability to accurately place balls and having a good pitch mix.

Arizona has the only City Connect uniforms that don't belong in a fucking bonfire.

Far better than their usual alts that look like a space-age garbageman outfit.
