Was thinking about the pitcher injury increase recently and I was remembering how Randy Johnson had an unusual amount of longevity even compared to pitchers in general, much less other guys throwing 100+ mph. Usually being his size makes you more prone to certain types of injuries, as we see with the NBA, but I wonder if his height here somehow enabled him to throw that fast for that long without destroying his arm the way guys these days do.
The side-arm delivery has a lot to do with it too. Much less wear on your arm than three-quarters or overhand slots.

Cleveland should kill itself.

Absolute booty cheeks tonight. Doesn't help when 7 out of 11 position players are batting below .200 over the past 15 days. Really missing Kwan in the leadoff spot in the order. Getting on base helps the rest of the order so much and Kwan is a master at the plate. Hopefully he'll come back and get us back in the W column. I will say though that our plate discipline has gone up exponentially this year. We're hitting .240 collectively and have a cool .740 OPS. Compared to last year, we were hitting .250 collectively with a .694 OPS. So even though we're just .010 down in average, our OPS has massively gone up.

I think the team is still trying to figure out some things about themselves. The infield doesn't feel entirely cohesive. Been plenty of missed opportunities to turn double plays, throw out baserunners trying to steal, and just overall not looking 100% gelled as a unit. Obviously it helps having a great 3B and 2B, but SS is a position that has been a problem in Cleveland since Lindor left. Josh Naylor has proven himself to be a consistent batter, but defensively he's hard to pin down. I can see this team being in competition for a wild card spot, but I wouldn't place any money on it. If we can get more cohesion and stay consistent, we'll be a formidable opponent in the ALC.

God I'd love to see round 2 of that. Unfortunately we won't see the fish until June 7th - 9th. For the rest of May, we've got 3 games against the Rangers, 3 with the Twins, 3 with the Angels, 3 with the Mets, 3 with the Rockies, and 1 with the Nationals. Not expecting much against the Rangers. Twins are definitely the team to beat in the ALC this year. The Mets, Rockies, and Angels could go either way.

Excited for the game tonight,
We got the Champion Texas Rangers (Just got swept by the Rockies)
Vs.
The red hot AL Central leading Cleveland 'dians (Just lost 3 of 4 against the white sox)
I expect a mess of a game, but one team has to bounce back, right?

Baseball is incredibly easy to watch. It's only complicated to watch when you see your team lose, like with every other sport. You can be good at a game you play, but when you needed to win in order to be recognized
It used to not be complicated to watch before they introduced the pitch clock. Before i could get up, grab a beer and a snack, relieve myself, and then sit back down to the pitcher working on the same batter. NOW if i do that I come back and the innings done. Used to be you could take a 2 hr nap until the 7th inning and wake up for the good stuff. Now you do that and youre gonna wake up to sportscenter.

Maybe thats what he means by "Its too complicated to watch"

Arizona has the only City Connect uniforms that don't belong in a fucking bonfire.
I take this back. I kinda like the Rockies' ones, even if they kinda look like a college team. The National League needs at least one team with green. It's better than the black-and-whites with no purple, which make them look like the White Sox.

The Pirates's would be solid throwbacks if they had 70's pillbox hats.

If that Ohtani homer in SF landed in the water then it would have been an all-time epic moment but he's truly something when he makes solid contact. First to 60 hits apparently, so let's see how long he can stay red hot. Pitchers will start to figure something out as we get deeper into the season but for now, he's destroying.

The runner on second in extra innings is crap also.

I take no issue with the pitch clock, as pitchers and batters have been allowed to dick around between pitches for far too long, but it should be temporary. Just long enough for these guys to understand that we're here to play baseball. Not preen and pose between pitches.
The extra innings stuff frosts me a bit because as a fan, especially at the ballpark, I always liked extra inning games. That meant more baseball... for free. That shit could go on for the rest of the night as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not a fan either. But I think Manfred's hands were tied there. Ghost runners were introduced in Olympic and international competitions. Then it started being adopted in NPB, Korean League, Serie Nacional in Cuba, and other domestic leagues. So MLB IMO just joined the club so their rules would be more in line with the international game.

I don't like the pitch clock, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of watching. But the other rule ruined extra inning games. The 10th+ inning wins were ecstatic. The absurdly long ones were memorable. Now you pretty much know it will end in the 10th or 11th.

The distance between an 100 mph fastball and a 90 is like a foot in measured distance. So being hugely tall his release point gave him an extra 3 or 4 mph compared to his effort.

Just got back from Phillies game. Sorta drunk great win 1st team to 30 wins 1st place (suck it braves). Looking fire still!
