Rays had a bit of an offensive explosion. 41 hits and 17 runs in the last three games to take the five-game set 3-2 against the Blue Jays. Paredes notches two more homers along with HRs from Franco, Choi, Arozarena, and Mejia.

Shane McClanahan threw a 7-inning, 10 strike out, and 1 earned game on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing how they play Boston starting today..

Finally got to see my first W at Fenway and what better way to do it: in extra innings, against our eternal rival. The place was fucking bouncing after Verdugo's walk off. Brought Jeter Downs in for the winning run no less after the young fella got his first major league hit.

I fucking hate the drive to Boston but this time it was worth it.

Looks like when the Royals start their series with the Blue Jays tomorrow, they will have the record for most players unable to play due to not being vaccinated. They will have 10 players not making the series.

OF - Andrew Benintendi
IF/OF - Whit Merrifield
C - M.J. Melendez
DH - Hunter Dozier
SP - Brad Keller
SP - Brady Singer
CF - Michael A. Taylor
OF - Kyle Isbel
RP - Dylan Coleman
C - Cam Gallagher

Add that with Salvador Perez being on the IL, and the Royals will practically have their AAA team play this series.

Based Royals not getting the Fauci Ouchie.

In Rays news I was pretty pissed coming into this week after they shit the bed in Cincinnati, but look at what they've done to the Red Sox!

They've taken 3 out of 4 and may sweep depending on what happens tomorrow.

Shane McClanahan threw another gem and lowered his ERA to 1.71 fanning 6 over 6 in the win. Ji Man Choi knocked in his 40th RBI and his OPS is now 846. Ramirez is batting 330 and Yandy Diaz is in the top 5 for league OBP.

Plenty of ball left but I'm happy with how the team is looking heading into the break.

Now does anyone know if I mail a baseball card to the team address is there any chance it could get signed? My buddy sent me a Ji Man card (the only card I own now LOL) knowing how much of a homer I am. If I sent that to the teams office is there any chance the Phenom from Incheon might sign it?

Thanks for calling that, last year me. At least they got one last first draft pick coming up before becoming at least a reliably middling team.
Hey now they are over .500!

The entire AL East is over .500.

Fuck it mods are asleep let's triple post.

Ohtani has currently fanned 12 through six innings tonight and is 2 for 3 against the Astros with a 2 RBI triple.

I'd never thought I'd see something like this in my life. He's incredible.

The Nationals will apparently consider trade offers for Juan Soto after he apparently rejected another extension offer from the team. According to reports, their third offer to him was worth $440 million over 15 years. They still control him until the end of the 2024 season (he'll turn 26 at around the time that the 2024 World Series begins) so it's not like they need to trade him super quickly, but at the same time they surely want to get as much back as possible if he's not going to re-sign with them.

MLB Draft starting today. Shortstop Jackson Holliday (son of Matt Holliday) was selected 1st overall by the Orioles. Outfielder Druw Jones (son of Andruw Jones) selected 2nd by Arizona. Texas Rangers selected pitcher Kumar Rocker (last years 10th overall pick) at number 3.
Jace Jung, younger brother of Josh (taken 8th by Texas in 2019) went #12 to Detroit. Carl Crawford's son, Justin, an outfielder like his dad went #17 to Philly.

The big surprise to me is Cam Collier falling to the Reds at #18. I thought he'd go in the top 10 and I think a lot of boards had him going around 5. His dad, Lou, also spent parts of eight seasons in the Majors.

Through 19 picks, four are the sons of former MLB players, one (Daniel Susac at #19) has a brother who played in the MLB, one (Jung) has a brother who will be there soon, and two (Rocker, and Elijah Green) are sons of former NFL players.

Some more notable draft picks with family ties now that the draft is over...

RD5: SS Sean McLain - LA Dodgers (Brother of Matt McLain, Reds #3 prospect)
RD8: RHP Mason McGwire - Chicago Cubs (Son of Mark McGwire)
RD11: OF Kyle Nevin - LA Dodgers (Son of Phil Nevin, brother of Tyler Nevin)
RD13: RHP Caden Marcum - Texas Rangers (Son of Shaun Marcum)
RD13: RHP Marquis Grissom Jr. - Washington Nationals (Son of Marquis Grissom)
RD15: 3B Jackson Jaha - New York Mets (Son of John Jaha)
RD16: RHP Jared Karros - LA Dodgers (Son of Eric Karros)

AL wins the All Star Game 3-2. All three runs were allowed by Tony Gonsolin (he of the perfect record and ERA well under 2.00) on a pair of homers by Stanton and Buxton.

Emmanuel Clase very nearly pitched an immaculate inning for the save, only missing on the seventh pitch.

The Red Sox just gave up an inside-the-park grand slam to Raimel Tapia of the Blue Jays. Boston's center fielder, Jarren Duran, lost the ball in the clouds or something, made it look like it was going to be an inning ending fly out to deep center field only for the ball to end up on the warning track. 10-0 for Toronto just heading to the bottom of the 3rd inning at Fenway.

Edit: it keeps getting worse. So fast forward to the 5th inning, it's a 15-3 score and this happens:

Then after that Toronto loads the bases again for Tapia. He promptly hits a double off of the Green Monster to make it 19-3, and then Vladimir Guerrero Jr. makes it 21-3 with a single. It's now 23-3 after back-to-back Bo Bichette and Teoscar Hernandez bloop singles. Every player for Toronto has at least 2 hits tonight.

Toronto's single game run record of 24 came against Baltimore in 1978 so there's a very good chance that will be shattered as they're still batting in the 5th with two runners on base again. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. just crushed a two-run double to make it 25-3. The modern MLB single game run record is 30 (when Texas beat the O's 30-3 in 2007) so we might see more history.

Edit: ended 28-5
