I'm not defending what Valdez did.

But the first thing that came to mind watching Astros catcher Salazar take a 92 mph sinker in the middle of his chest protector was that this whole kerfuffle wouldn't of even been a thing if modern catchers didn't start with their mitt essentially touching the dirt when the pitch is released to try to frame low strikes rather than actually giving the hurler an old school target in the zone.

A furious Karen steals ball she didn't retrieve from a father who got the ball for his son at the ballpark for his birthday. Both were Phillies fans watching them play in Miami.

The Marlins have already delievered a gift basket to the cheers of the surrounding fans.

Man, at the time I thought that Tanner Scott deal was very reasonable, if not a steal for the Dodgers. Lol. Lmao even.
I thought that the Conforto contract was alright at first. You know, to replace Gavin Lux since he went to Cincinnati. Now I want that faggot to go away now. He has done nothing but be an out merchant and be a blight on the lineup. With all our injuries and our top guys going cold, I can totally see us getting kicked to the curb once the post-season gets here

To rub some more salt in the wounds of the Dodgers, they suffered one of the most soul crushing losses possible today. With a no-hitter going and carrying a 3-0 lead starting the bottom of the 9th inning in Baltimore, Yoshinobu Yamamoto proceeded to get the first two batters out before Jackson Holliday ruined his chance at history by hitting a solo home run.

That homer ended Yamamoto's incredible outing and led to Blake Treinen entering the game for a 1 out save. Instead of getting the save he gave up a double, followed it by hitting a batter, and then walked a batter to load the bases. He ended his day of work by walking another batter to cut the lead down to 3-2 with the bases still loaded. Tanner Scott entered the game only to immediately give up a two-run walk off single to Emmanuel Rivera as Baltimore stunningly won 4-3.

OG r/baseball Karen thread
r/baseball post about the goodie bag

I found the Reddit reaction fascinating from a sociology point of view.

- Particularly how Reddit was about 99% united against the lesbo energy Karen
- I found it very interesting that the vast majority of that 99% joyfully labeled her a Karen. When Karens from the RW perspective, particularly doing COVID lunacy times, were considered LW creations.
- Reddit took the side of the White, fairly emasculated soyboy/beta father over the aggressive butch Grandma Karen
- No quarter was given considering the possibility that she was part of the L of the LGBT (though later clips suggested she was attending with a man. But this wasn't known upon original reactions)
-So much "You always have to give the ball to the kid, period" absolutist moralfagging. When realistically here, the headlines were deceiving in that it was a father & a Karen entangled for a loose HR ball. The kid was nowhere in the frame, with the father eventually originally coming up with the ball, having to walk rows & rows to award the ball to his son.

Got to a AAA game had such a hoot going again with mrs and inlaws the 21st. While I love all baseball and MLB AAA games are just more family focused and fun I think.

Iron Pigs have a great stadium and the food/drink is out of control good/cheap. Also they trust us with 9+ ABV beers, I think I ate half of my wife's "crab" fries after my perogies good thing she can drive stick lol.

Phillies are looking really good, but as of time of writing best record in MLB? Brewers things I thought I'd never type. They are REALLY good.

Bo Sox kinda shot up and now in the runnings for WC and next to Yankees, finally reflaming that rivalry. Lastly, lol braves, lol.

MLB's historic first female umpire called a historically bad game yesterday. Literally Angel Hernandez-tier. 86% is at the very bottom and I think I've only seen 1 85% in the time I've been tracking scorecards.

She'll probably still get promoted to full-time next year, because we all know why.

a Mets collapse and Giants last minute run would not be unheard of.
2 weeks later:

God you fucking suck, the Mets
In truly Metsian fashion the Mets alumni (old timers) game was today and the Mets couldn't even win that -Mets vs Mets it was a tie. The 2007 Mets who were there gave collapse avoidance advice to todays Mets but to no avail they lost the 8th straight. This time to Bochy's Rangers who are having a late run for the wildcard similar to his 2014 Giants. And the Giants now hold the last NL wildcard spot.

The Rangers are only 2 games out of the wild card spot despite having an entire starting lineup hurt and playing a roster of Wyatt Langford, Jake Burger, Josh Jung (how the hell is he one of the only guys who isn't hurt?), the $19.5 million scrub, and 5 AAAA guys. Did they put trenbolone in the water in Arlington or what?

I'm not complaining.

Cleveland is right on their tail, despite having two competent hitters, a suspect starting rotation, and a bullpen that took a massive step back from last year's domination.

Steven Vogt deserves Manager of the Year if they make the playoffs.

Fuck the Mets
Fuck the Mets
God you fucking suck, the Mets
You're literally my best friend now.

San Fran fans, I'm sorry and thanks! All I want for christmas is my two fron... wait I mean Mets not going to post season. God willing I'll get a new TV so I can have picture in picture. I want to see Byrce Harper playing ball and Soto golfing.

Dear mets E A D.

Cal Raleigh has broken Mickey Mantle's single season home run record for switch hitters which had been held since 1961. He hit a pair of homers tonight which were his 55th (this broke the record) and 56th of the season.

He tied the Mariners club record too. How far up the all time single season list will he end up? Judge 62 is the American League record.

Indians making the playoffs still a big "if".

One would assume John Schneider in Toronto is the frontrunner considering he's a relatively new face in the league and the Jays are tops in the AL this year despite running out mostly the same team as last year that finished dead last in the AL East. Most of their big money offseason acquisitions haven't worked out (Santander hurt since May, Gimenez hurt twice with an OPS under .600, Jeff Hoffman their closer with an ERA close to 5.00 and leading the league in RP HR allowed, Max Scherzer is fine but got hurt Opening Week and didn't pitch again until June, Yimi Garcia was brought back and immediately got hurt, Nick Sandlin has disappeared a few times and is done for the year), so it's been the jobbers like Tyler Heineman, Nathan Lukes, Tommy Nance, Braydon Fisher, Myles Straw, Joey Loperfido, Ernie Clement, IKF, Davis Schneider that are going to win them the division.
