Cal Raleigh hit his 57th home run of the season tonight which breaks the Mariners' single season record that previously held by Ken Griffey Jr.

Griffey had 56 homers in both 1997 and 1998 in 608 and 633 at bats, respectively. Raleigh his homer during his 566th at bat of the season. Seattle has 7 games remaining on their schedule after tonight so there's a reasonable chance that he could join the ranks of the 60 homer club as its sixth member.

Edit: shortly after that post, Mike Trout became the 59th player to hit 400 career home runs.

Took wife and my inlaws to the LAST game of the year for AAA iron pigs.
Super day and they got SMOKED 0-9. Played the second gay mets. I'm showing my age and sappiness.
They did a thing everyone could throw a first pitch like 30 kids did. I bumped into one later, he threw pretty well but well he was 9... when we crossed paths his hat was covered in signatures. I dunno warmed my heart the team was all nice to him.

First inning 4 pitches and it got me cocky, but oof. I don't think our pitching was bad they just HIT right.

Also I won't say who I was but for going to so many games in my life, first time they flat out said "were putting this on 69 news!" and put me and my FIL on TV.

If you need to dox me watch the game lol, I threw a peace sign tapped my phils shirt. Poppa basso texted me he saw me.

On July 6th, the Tigers held a 15.5-game lead in the AL Central.

On September 23rd, the Tigers are tied for first in the AL Central.
They really are just doing what they did last year but in reverse. At least they managed to get half a season of good Baseball from the god awful Baez contract.

Nice of the Rangers' Angels in the Outfield lineup to fall apart and head for Cancun early after giving us false hope that maybe, somehow, they would rise from the ashes to take that final AL wild card spot. We all knew they wouldn't get it, but they failed to get it in the most painful way possible.

There's an entire rotation of pitchers on the IL. We paid a guy $19.5 million to hit and it took him 3 months to figure out how to fucking hit.

The Texas Rangers have ELIMINATED the Houston Trashtros from the Playoffs!!!!!!!!

Well you were right. I 100% thought the Tigers were going to choke and let Houston in. Also I can't tell if the HBP was on purpose or not. The entire game the Rangers were definitely trying to win, but then in the 9th they IBB for no reason and Robert Garcia get's the first HBP of his ENITRE CAREER. Seems like they really didn't want extras and said fuck it and fuck the Astros lol.

Game 162 still has plenty at stake:
- AL East winner and homefield advantage throughout the postseason (Blue Jays or Yankees)
- AL Central winner (Guardians or Tigers)
- NL third Wild Card spot (Reds or Mets)

My prediction:
- both the Blue Jays and Yankees win tomorrow, but Blue Jays have the tiebreaker so they'll win the division
- Guardians win, Tigers lose; Guardians win division
- Brewers have homefield advantage clinched so they have nothing to play for. I wouldn't be surprised if they completely phone it in to fuck over the Mets as revenge for last season. Though the Mets being the Mets they may just lose to the Marlins which is funnier so I'll go with that. Either way, Reds get that last spot.

I got everything but the Brewers not trying correct :)

The Blue Jays won the division title, let's see if they'll go further than the Leafs in the playoffs. :story:

Well, they get a bye through the 1st round. So they've already done it!

The Jays limped to their 1st AL East division title since 2015 when Bautista, Encarnacion & Donaldson beat Texas but lost in 6 in the ALCS against eventual WS champion Kansas City & a red-hot Alcides Escobar. Very impressed Toronto managed to win their last 4 to hold off the streaking Yankees against Boston & a Kevin Cash Tampa team that is always their kryptonite.

- Bo Bichette sprained his PCL knee ligament smashing into Austin Wells weeks ago on a play at the plate when Toronto last played the Yankees. He still isn't running or taking live BP yet. Doesn't look like he'll even be ready for the ALDS on Sat. Incredibly, despite missing the last few weeks, he only lost the MLB lead in hits to Bobby Witt Jr on the 2nd last day of the year.
- Vlad just had the worst 2-3 week hitting stretch of his career. He hasn't hit a ball in the air in weeks. His exit velo is also suddenly league-worst. No injuries are currently known. He did pull a hammy in August stretching for a throw at 1B & missed 10 days. But this seemed to be previously resolved.
- Max Scherzer has suddenly turned into the 40 y/o man he is, unable to get out of the first inning in his last few crucial starts.
- Chris Bassitt is on the IL with back tightness. This could've been a phantom injury to get another reliever up.
- Jose Berrios recently was put on the IL for right elbow shittiness after months of bad starts, breaking his iron man streak of consecutive starts and no IL history. He had a clean MRI but is likely done for the year.
- Despite running a 6-7 man rotation a month ago, the rotation is down to 1) Kevin Gausman, 2) Shane Bieber, 3) Max Scherzer 4)Trey Yesavage (rookie with 3 MLB starts). Eric Lauer, their best SP for the middle part of the season remains in the bullpen because of lack of seniority.
