Kluber to NY on a one year deal, $11 million. He hasn't pitched in a year, hasn't pitched well in two years. And coincidentally, the Yankees conditioning/player health director is also Kluber's personal conditioning/health guy. No conflict of interest there.

To the Mets:
  • SS - Francisco Lindor (will be arbitration eligible for this season, UFA in 2022)
  • SP - Carlos Carrasco (under contract until 2022 with a $14 million team option or $3 million buyout for 2023)
To the Indians:
  • SS - Ahmed Rosario (was considered a consensus league top 10 prospect as recently as 2017)
  • SS - Andres Gimenez (considered a league top 100 prospect as recently as last season)
  • SP - Josh Wolf (2nd round pick in 2019)
  • OF - Isaiah Greene (2nd round pick in 2020, was compared to Michael Brantley and Garrett Anderson by Baseball America)

Well, the last two times the Indians sent an All-Star middle infielder to the Mets (Carlos Baerga, Roberto Alomar), their careers took a nosedive. I'm gonna cling on to that sentiment.
 
Happy Opening Day! The Rangers are expected to have a full ballpark at least for Monday's game against Toronto.

To kick off the Mets' season with a bang, last night it was announced that they came to an agreement with their massive offseason acquisition Francisco Lindor on a 10-year extension worth $341 million ($32 million per season with a $21 million signing bonus) that will take him through the age of 37. He'll get annual $5 million deferments between 2032 and 2041 which means that as far as the books are concerned he'll 'only' be getting paid $27 million per season during his contract. In terms of the total dollar amount, it's now the third largest contract in MLB history sitting just behind Mike Trout (who signed a 10-year extension for $360 million in 2019.)

You won't be seeing a Mets win today lol. Their game against Washington was cancelled earlier due to a positive Covid test. The earliest that they can play is Saturday.
 
God, I can't fucking wait for the Braves. It's either promised land or the usual disappointment this year and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Just hope Ozuna doesn't dip below .280 and Acuña doesn't strike out as much because I'm worried he might be starting to head towards Fat Andruw territory if he keeps that up.
 
Astros fan here, so I expect hate for the cheating scandal. Even losing Springer, our offense should still be fine. I'd like to see Dusty Baker try Altuve at lead off, because he can fairly well replicate Springer's speed/power combo. Looks like Miles Straw will start in CF and he's got incredible raw speed but no power and potential contact issues facing MLB pitching. I personally think he profiles more as a bench type, but he's our best option for now. The rest of the lineup should be pretty similar to last year's with Yordan Alvarez returning to his DH spot after missing almost all of last season due to injury.

Pitching is more of a concern. Verlander and Framber Valdez are both likely out for the year, so the rotation will be reliant on Grienke (funniest dude in baseball), McCullers, and Odorizzi. The younger guys down the pecking order from these three looked good in limited opportunities last year, but they're still light on MLB innings, so we'll see. No idea about the bullpen. They waived Osuna a couple of months back, so I guess maybe some combination of new addition Pedro Baez and Ryan Pressely will handle closing work.

The big off the field storyline this year is Correa's expiring contract. He said he won't negotiate during the season, but I find that improbable if the Astros give him a good offer. The Lindor deal scares me, not because I think Correa is on par as a player, but just how it impacts the overall young shortstop market. It honestly might be best for both parties if he has a healthy, productive season and gets his bag elsewhere. As far as I'm aware we don't have any heirs apparent, but I've always viewed Bregman as more of a natural shortstop, so playing him there and Aledmys Diaz as the regular third baseman would work for 2022.

Looking forward to a good season.

The idea that black people don't have IDs is patently false.

Even if it was true, notice how no Democrat has ever introduced legislation to GET black people IDs.
 
How the fuck does the MLB think pulling out of Atlanta helps anything?

It just polarizes the sport and hurts the small businesses and employees who were relying on that event for the income.
