I dunno, man. That Phantom skin for the black sniper is the best one he has. The rest kind of suck though.
You could upgrade to Phantom for $30 if you already have the base game. Meh, extra cosmetics that I'd likely not use for $30 extra sounds like a ripoff.

>mp5 is 22nd
>M60 in top 10
That chart is stupid lol. I guess all is accounting for is ttk, but I noticed way more often I'll lose gunfights using the turd60 v going on multiple tears and hogging the feed with the mp5. The number one factor I've noticed that makes a gun good is the fire rate regardless of the weapon class, other than sg and pistol (can't speak on DMRs,and I imagine with snipers it doesn't matter). It has to be a network thing, but that's just my opinion.

It's a TTK chart, not a tierlist. The MP5 is powerful because it has no recoil and is more accurate than LMGs and assault rifles even out to like 80 meters, not because it has a low ttk. That goes for most of the SMGs, though. They have extraordinarily forgiving to nonexistent aim cones.

It's absolutely not worth upgrading to or purchasing the Phantom edition. The cosmetics are all quite ugly and the black actually makes you stand out a ton in game. I kinda regret buying it.

Well it is, I just think it's better than whatever that Yeti-looking getup is supposed to be.

Everybody's white in thermal, lol.

But really, thermals have been my temp fix for the blinding glare when looking outside a house.

Fuck this gun, man. I hope this thing gets nerfed in some way. It's vile and is like 6th in terms of the fastest TTK but has the fun benefit of being an SMG with no aim cone so it's a laser beam. The only thing keeping it from being too obnoxious is that the 16 round starting mag filters most of the retards. The Tavor is the same way. It's got the lowest TTK in theory but is balanced by being really inaccurate so it filters most people.
It's actually trash when you first get it. I hate leveling it up with its 16 count mag, and its ridiculous bloom.
I'm almost convinced all guns can be laser beamified if you work with them long enough.
The m4 and SGX get really good really fast, but attachments can make or break everything. Some attachments apparently have no drawback, and some are clearly shit.
Red lasers can't be seen by the enemy? Ok so just use them.
Most vertical grips can ruin your walking accuracy? Never use them, because slight movement/counter-strafing can save your ass
Compensators and brakes can reveal your position on the map? Never use anything other than flash hider or suppressor. Those little attachment differences make a COD of difference.
I inherently play defensive and slowly and it's just never rewarded. I can count the times I've proned with a lmg and got 3 kills on one hand, going on many hours. You're more likely to get 2 lucky kills running around like a retard than to try to put any sense of tactics into your play.
I don't know if you guys are doing this, but you need to use the spatial audio, and play "positions" based on relative enemy movement, not just plant yourself. The goal should be to upset the enemy who runs by you and you gank them, not necessarily giving them a static target.

This is going to sound cringe, but there are real world considerations that actually help. I remember I read a combative about urban combat from the 80s or something, and their suggestion when peeking around corners was to prone at a 90 degree angle. Now if you peak from prone, its going to be really surprising to a console guy with a controller, and you'll have the upper hand.

Another simple thing is to check a corner with a peek and taking a mental snapshot before you actually turn it. Simple gunfighting tricks do in fact work in this game. Realizing you can't engage someone at a certain distance. Going the path not travelled so you can circle around. Playing aggressively instead of crumbling behind something. Retreating to a better position after suppressing. Lots of stuff works, its just that you have to lock into the game's pace.

Another thing is to just abandon hope for better gameplay from certain game modes.
I played Rush and TDM yesterday because I wanted to complete challenges. TDM is not running around and gunning, its actually slowly covering cones of fire as you amble from cover to cover, waiting for them to do the running around. Rush is just complete bullshit on the urban maps. You're basically playing 2 way firing range.

Stupid advice i know, but if you just play "serious" as opposed to casual, you'll improve. The game wants to be taken seriously, and thats when it opens up, when you play it the way it wants to be played.

I had a 40+ kill game with it the first time I used it. The mag is the filter but it's anything but trash even early on. I shudder to imagine what you think of literally any weapon that isn't an SMG if you think the bloom on it is ridiculous, though. It's not the most accurate of the SMGs but it's plenty accurate enough to compete with guns it really has no business competing with at mid range. If you know the esoteric techniques of tap and burst firing it's kinda silly how far you can bop people with it. Otherwise, yea, you're correct about the attachments being seriously dumb. It's especially stupid considering how many of them will seemingly do the same thing as another one but say "slightly" or "minor" but then the stats in the corner either don't change or change by a single point as if that means anything. Rainbow 6 Siege is a fucking horrible game nowadays but one of the things they did correctly was showing an image of a weapon's recoil pattern in the stats section and how each attachment changes that recoil. Battlefield has always been really fucking bad about having completely meaningless bars and numbers.

Im glad I didnt buy this.

The cramped small maps combined with the rigid vehicles just make the game not fun.

Just spewing random thoughts into the void here:

-it sounds corny but this is the first game that's reminded me why I enjoy video games, I don't think I'd prefer it to the older games, but I still find my self having a lot of fun just playing the game for the sake of it. Feels like my childhood again, it's nice.

-mirak valley is extremely shite. It's a standout in how much worse it is compared to the other maps. It's boring to play when you're winning and highly frustrating to play when you're losing. It feels like there's zero good cover to move around the map.

-pax armata is the gay and retarded CSAT we have at home. The whole concept of pax armata is gay and retarded. I know why they did it. It's still gay and retarded and not well thought out at all. Bohemia interactive did it 10 times better 10 years ago.

-maybe some people don't like it but I really enjoy the more muted color palette of this game. I really cannot fucking stand the trend of throwing all the colors of the rainbow into a game with absolutely no thought or consistency to it that you see in modern gaming. I find it immensely ugly and I'm glad they dialed it back for this title, at least for now.

-im convinced at this point that there is not a single person in any AAA company that is able to design a good UI anymore. The competent UI designers are all dead or retired.

-The fucking bipods in this game make me want to rip my teeth out, they're so inconsistent to use and you can barely tell when you're actually using them

The biggest things for me are being able to read the general state of the map and being able to think like your enemy/anticipate their actions. Sound also does help immensely too, and it's also why I try not to run everywhere I go because I think running is extremely loud in this game.

I feel like I could do a 2 part series on game sense. It's so hard to really convey it to people what it really is, but when it starts to click and you get it, it feels like you have wall hacks at times. And I know this is the battlefield thread but this applies to other multiplayer shooters as well. You start to look at matches you play completely differently.

I thought the new content was locked until 15:00 UTC, but I've found Blackwell Fields games via custom search. There's a sniper glint bug where it comes out as flat shaded rectangles.

Just finished playing Blackwell Fields through custom search, it's one of the better and larger maps in the game now. A weird bug I have now though is that the deploy screen is capped to 30fps.

Finally got my hands on the game and I'm having a good time, I wonder how Season 1 is gonna perform. Only real criticism that truly bothers me are the challenges and how they don't properly track or are bugged. The Support mastery challenge is a pain in the ass since it doesn't count healing teammates if you aren't the first one to heal them. LMG challenges are also AIDs because of the suppression part of it, you can suppress enemies but it doesn't count if you don't get the 'Suppressed Enemy' pop-up when shooting and it feels like it takes half of a mag to trigger that.

Look on the bright side: You don't need to be using an LMG for suppression to count. I've been playing mostly Assault and Engineer, and the random suppressions I'm getting while doing other challenges all contribute towards it.

See, I'd believe that there's worth in actually learning the game and playing modes that support knowledge and map awareness, but you'll have an edgelord bumrush your team from behind or someone camping a bomber plane nullifying any and all of that effort. CoD is the same: Every map is a square and you're meant to run around in circles, and if you catch the spawn waves, you get 25 kills. if you're a second behind, you're the one getting farmed.

1:1 kdr is the goal for these kinds of games, and it's why I end up preferring pve shooters. This shit is just too unrewarding because the goal is never to go 19-for-1. Oh, well I'll play support then!.. Everyone skips revive, every third person has defeb and LMB of all fucking weapons are dogshit on a medic class. I'll keep playing this game, but man. What a shitshow.

And that's ignoring how a single character and its skins is locked behind the same single one game mode, forever. IF the one you want is in a dogshit mode, tough luck.

Ended up playing a round of the BR, it's not bad. I like that the redeploy becon makes a loud ass noise and you have to stand next to it to redeploy your squad. You get one free redeployment if you die without your squad wiping, I like that each class has things to interact with on the map. My only real complaint is the map might be a bit to big but i'd need to play more.

Is there a significant difference in weapon proficiency if I for example decide to use an smg as support, am I severely gimping myself?

You aren't. You lose out on the engineer's hipfire accuracy, but that's really it.

Looks like the Battlefield team is taking skin feedback seriously. Here's the monster energy skin before

The two free modes they added are complete ass. Squad deathmatch is fucking garbage and gauntlet is just that with dumbass objectives thrown in. It makes sense why these are the free modes but after seeing all that is in there it feels more like the focus was making this shit rather than a battlefield game.
