Oh, okay. I thought Mozambique was an African country.
It is, it's also a gun in Apex Legends and Titanfall, specifically a shotgun pistol

The shotgun also got its name from the Mozambique drill, which is basically shooting someone twice in the chest and once in the head, the shotgun pistol shoots 3 projectiles in a triangle.

There's just no class or element to the game that is enticing to pursue. It's all kills kills kills. Jerk off in a tank, jerk off behind a tank, jerk off in a plane, snipe from a corner. There's nothing to do but kill which sounds idiotic but it's how it feels.
I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, but this is all because most players are doing that. The newfags playing on console, or whatever coming from COD are going to act like that. Its not a new phenomena, just a new generation.

For example, one guy lazing can clear the skies with a friendly AA vehicle. Or, if you drop ammo packs for engineers they can load up 5 rockets and be highly effective in squads. If you are penetrating deep behind enemy lines as an assault and set up a spawn point you can interfere with the enemies tanks really easily.

One good attack helicopter team can dominate the ground if no one takes them out. 2 or 3 engineers can obliterate any armor units if they aren't taken out insantly. 2042 you had to hit em 4 or 5 times to do anything to them.

The problem at a certain point is you're spawning in a game with people who don't understand gadgets. While youre looking for positions to laze vehicles with your binoculars, or you're trying to be an engineer for a vehicle, there's no guarantee that the person you're playing with will not be the guy that just runs where the map leads them. A tanker who drives right into the AT mines on the main path. An assault guy who just loads up with grenades and ammunition. A medic who doesn't even spawn in with an ammo pack, but plays aggressively like an assault unit, and has no smokes.

Casual people just do not get that team work can make up for good shooting. Its like how very rarely does any one dominant player win a match, unless they have support. Snipers don't win matches even if they hit every target. This is Battlefield. I like that they increased the hard counters, but made incendiaries work against vehicles. The hard counters have gone up, which feels old school. But also, the soft counters are still there so when you ask yourself why you're losing, it comes back to teamwork. You could be playing really really well, have a shit K : D and lose, just because you got on a bad team. I think back on Battlefield's history and I find in genuinely amazing that throughout this period, there have been people that just wanted to fly transport helicopters. I always appreciated those people because I never want to fly transport helicopters.

The problem I have is, whenever my team is losing I feel obligated to switch to a specific class and play that class based on countering the enemy's dominant units on the map. This is because FPS have always been so focused on infantry combat, and the vehicles are always secondary. Which makes sense because its the most indivisible unit of any military obviously. Without a man that can kill another man, you don't even have the beginning of an army. But it has always been a joyless exercise in modern Battlefield to be the guy on the field with the aerial drone spotting, so the masses can have easy shots against a superior enemy. Or spawning with the peashooter engineer class to hit the broad side of a barn with a rocket because there are dedicated tankers and IFV guys with 0-3 deaths and 45 kills owning our team. Wow, we're taking a lot of ticket loss...wow we're assaulting a position head on when we should be flanking. Better equip smokes, or go medic....Wow we are backed into a corner, better spawn spec ops.

It's been this way as long as I can remember, and is just a byproduct. Frankly this is why I like BF more than COD or Valorant, where Codsters are going to be given all sorts of perk advantages, killstreaks, grenades, etc. that are all self-oriented and not team oriented. In Valorant, the game is so restrictive in terms of movement, that most of the time it feels like you're moving around the map and if you get in a situation its over, and someone camping behind the door the entire match until you walked into their crosshairs kills you instantly. There's no ladder that goes over, or blowing up the wall in counter strike. If you find someone to play with that understands this, you will have a ton of fun, but keep in mind most people like that are milsim types that would rather play something like Squad, and are in voicechats and have practice dates.

It's also Rhodesian, so it's funny that the ultra-woke Apex devs made a reference to it.

Reading through the takes in this thread has pretty much convinced me to pass on this until there's a VERY GOOD discount.

It's a shame because the beta was decent, but sounds like they fumbled it.

If I had to summarize what I've been enjoying without sounding like a DICE Shill.

  • I like the gameplay despite the bloom issues. The game at least to me feels like a battlefield game. It feels like 4/V if I had to compare them.
  • Escalation is the best mode in this game, though Conquest is fun too.
  • I've liked almost every gun I've tried, which is not normally something that happens to me with a battlefield game, I normally gravitate towards one or two guns and stick there.
  • I've found myself playing pretty much every class, though engineer is by far my most played. The RPG rocks and blowing up a tank or helicopter is pure kino.
  • I've liked most of the maps, a few of them have been ruined by exploits on breakthrough specifically, but for conquest and escalation I've been enjoying most of the maps. Though I do agree some of them need to be bigger and a lot of the buildings should be destroyable.
  • The game at least on my rig runs really well and stable.
  • The battle royale mode surprised me, it has its issues but it is fun if that's something you enjoy.
  • The Shotgun is still hilarious
There are still shitty things about the game obviously, they overcorrected hard after 2042 on map design, the maps are a bit too small and the newest map, the oil field, is dog shit. There are exploits and bugs that need fixing, but that's a problem in every battlefield.

They also need to figure out what the hell is going on with hit registration.

But overall the game has been a blast to play, it's the most fun I've had with a shooter in a while, t's definitely an improvement of 2042 but that's not a high bar. If I had to compare it to its predecessors I'd say it's up there with 1 and V, not as good as the way older games but still a fun experience and much less buggy than any modern battlefield on release.

It's good to see that they're listening, but it did seem like everyone was just playing sniper from OperatorDrewski's footage.

how's season 1 overall? I get unbanned on Friday.

I'm not a fan of it myself and think that they need to add a few more structures for balance, but it's funny how they'll just complain about anything.

Can't say. I haven't tried out much of the new shit, and battlepasses are like 2042 so they just gradually increase over time.

Gauntlet's alright if you have 3 friends. I like it more than Squad Deathmatch for the variety it brings, and teamwork is essential for some of those objectives.

I'm interested to see what the later map designs will be like after all the feedback. Blackwell was most likely already finished and was just slated for Season 1. It's the maps after that will be the true test.

Unpopular opinion, but I've actually been enjoying Blackwell Fields due to how much of a vehicle clusterfuck it is. It's pure chaos and is like smashing a bunch of toy cars together over and over again. That's the one saving grace for me. The armored transport can destroy infantry if you park it at an angle and your passengers can aim.

Apparently the map set in California (the one that's a portion of the battle royale map) is apparently really good

The entire season is based in southern California, it's a cool setting since I don't think it's done much in FPS games like this. Blackwell can be a fun map, I really like it on the smaller modes like Breakthrough but Conquest can be rough, maybe I've just been having bad matches or my team doesn't know how to take care of vehicles.

On the 18th Eastwood is releasing, along side with Battle Pickups. The first Pickup is going to be some minigun thing which will be fun, I've also heard rumors that at Battlefield 4 style Rorsch railgun will be the next one to come out, probably in season 2.

I Saw somewhere that the rail gun will also be coming on the 18th

Blackwell isn't even a big map, either. The map is thematically cool but playing it pisses me off. There's no flanking routes, just look at this shit. The HQs are huge and one side spawns so close to A and B that it's impossible to hold them as the opposite team, and the same goes for F on the other side. It's fun to fight around F, but it's stupid to even try because the enemy team can spawn on their base and immediately come fight you. D and C are also restrictive as fuck with the map borders being squished in the center, funneling you into the middle of the map. That northern side especially needs to be extended. There's some good hills and even literal dirt paths up there where they clearly intended you to drive through the hills to flank on B. Thematically a cool map but it's shit to play. It's not nearly big enough and it's another stupid linear fuckfest.

luckily we know the devs have said that they are willing to make changes to the maps as they gather data on them and how people play. But the fact that the map shipped like this is unacceptable

I regret to say that I enjoy the oilfield map, was going apeshit on it last night, people just sprint out in the open with 0 thought and don't play defensively and don't know how to utilize vehicles without driving straight into landmines. Absolute killing field.

  • remove the jets as the airspace is too small for them to be effective anyway
  • remove attack heli
  • transport heli only
  • remove 1 MBT from each side
  • remove mobile AA
  • extend the middle of the map up and down to give room for flanking and to promote vehicles doing more than sitting on a hill
Ideally you'd want to extend the distance between the base and the closet pointt, but that would require far more effort than dice will ever put in. These maps are too small for the air vehicles and they end up being either overly powerful or utterly useless. It's like the devs know that battlefield conquest maps are supposed to have lots of vehicles but don't bother thinking about how those vehicles will actually play on the map. Sobek has the same issue. AA rapes the helicopters inside their own spawn constantly. The new armored trucks are stupid fun but blackwell fucking SUCKS for them as there's so much random bullshit to get stuck on and drive over.

Agreed. I had thought to jump the gun and I’m letting the battle royale spoil my enjoyment of Battlefield’s gameplay loop. However, I’m running out of competent shooters to play.

I know it's a BF thread but it's this and you throw hero abilities into the mix.

In terms of the game itself i thought i wouldn't like the BR since Firestorm was an attempt and it just wasn't fun if they're gonna take from anything then taking from Warzone was a good thing if you ask me. But the difference is that Redsec still feels like a Battlefield game.
