BF6 is 15% off and getting a free week which is nov 25th - dec 2nd. I hope they have another 2X XP weekend like they did at the start of the month.

I'm ready for one week of cheaters and scrubs.

Been playing battlefield games on and off for years and just got BF6 in the sale and so far i'm a bit disappointed.

Looks great but it's chaotic in a way I dont remember any other BF game being. Sure there's always been pinch points and constant dying but there's so much...movement. Opponents jumping out from any angle at any point and absolutely no strategy. Just a constant information overload and shooting at anything that moves while being shot by a guy who appeared over a hedge.

Either:
  • I'm just shit at the game and getting old
  • I've been playing too much Hell Let Loose and this is how BF games have always been and im misremembering
  • BF6 has been made more to appeal to fortnite players
I dunno it just feels less...epic than it used to. The maps claim to be large but they dont feel it. It's a well executed game but maybe it's just not meant for me.

BF5 had a lot of critics but I loved it (though I got it after it had been fully patched following release). You got a real sense of the "flow" of the battle, with discernable 'fronts' appearing on the map. That's just not something that happens in BF6. It's like whackamole. I also think the WW2 setting is better for these games, especially when it comes to planes.

Thankyou for reading my whine just had to get it off my chest.

Are there hardcore servers on BF6?
Probably, I know you can make them in the portal, I don't know if people have.

I think it feels chaotic, specifically because all the maps are so small and most of the people playing are kids who are used to playing ADHD shooters whose only objective is to kill and be fast.

How small? Is it at least comparable to Zavod?
Here's a map comparing the shape and size of the maps of previous games. The main issue someone points out with the maps isn't even the size, it's the fact that the maps in BF6 are primarily funnels that force you into certain areas compared to the older games maps (even 2042) which are a bit more open and allow for more freedom of movement.

Yes, though I don't play on them. Previously hardcore mode was THE SHIT and easily the best thing for 2042. However, I don't feel the same way in 6, and that might just be because TTK is already quite merciless as is.

It's predominantly handled through people making Portal versions, but there are official Hardcore modes that pop up.

I feel like the "chaos" comes from rooms and areas being more varied and with more cover. Operation Firestorm feels more-or-less the same as BF3, and frontlines are clearly established. I think the same can be said for larger maps like Mirak Valley, Liberation Peak and Blackwell Fields, but the smaller urban maps feel made for chaos, and to me that's fine. Some of them like Empire State have multiple floors of access, which makes it hard to pin everything down, and Iberian Offensive and Manhattan Bridge are round enough and with multiple different paths that people can slip past enemy lines more easily, and the snaller number of armoured vehicles is telling. I have no doubt that a well-coordinated team could lock the entire thing down - and truth be told I've had some games where the enemy team fucks us over royally and we can't seem to make any kind of push - but most regular teams can't muster that kind of precision.

Even so, I've enjoyed some of the extra places you can go on the maps. I didn't realise the Assault Ladder can get you into multi-floor buildings overlooking C in Empire State until I saw an entire team shooting at me from one. It's also nice how many small shops can be accessed too, and I just feel like there are more buildings you can get into than some of the older games.

BF5 would likely have been a runaway success if it had axed the politics, or at least been more modest about it. It's simple: either make your game a straight-cut WW2-type game with maybe one squad of ladies being a faction you can pick, but keep the campaign fixated on an accurate telling of the countless epic WW2 battles that really happened, OR make your game a crazy Resistance-style alternative reality which explains all its women soldiers but keep it fairly close to reality. DON'T make everything about your game's image centre around women then claim you're making an authentic WW2 experience while shutting down everyone who points out the obvious.

It should not have been hard - CoD: WW2 was a joke with lootboxes, red-dot MP40s and black nazi sheboons. DICE fucking doubled down on the retardation and it cost them a slam-dunk win, and for that they deserved all the criticism they got.

It might be because of change of direction since there's different devs involved with 6. The head dev is the MW2019 guy right? isn't modern cod notorious for the same 3 lane maps over and over again?

It depends on the COD games, but yeah, COD maps tend to be 3-laned combat areas.

If you mean Vince Zampella, then no: He was a co-founder of Infinity Ward and an original creator of CoD, but he left Infinity Ward after MW2 and founded Respawn Entertainment, which made Titanfall.

Bf5 was unironically the most fun I ever had in any bf. Especially once you could blow up faggot bombers with the fliegerfaust. I haven't played 6 in about a month and the immediate feeling that comes to mind is I really can't think of anything memorable about any of the maps, other than the mountain sucking. I honestly think it would be better if it was an actual choke point separating the two ends of the map instead of running back and forth to d

I find it gaslighting that BF6's MSRP is $70 but now with Black Friday sales, it's $60. I remember when new games used to be $60 for the same content now.

I played this game for a while and I took a long hiatus because I was terminally addicted to ARC Raiders and Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen that I got on sale on steam.

I’ve heard a lot of people really don’t like the oilfield map, but I played it on Conquest and I didn’t really have a problem with it. I think it’s overcrowded with vehicles, but otherwise if they just trimmed the amount down, I think I’d like it a hell of a lot better.

The Eastwood map I think could be a bit fatter and maybe have the spawns a bit further back much like the oilfield map. I also think the building in the middle is cancer. It just seems like every angle is lose, lose, lose no matter what. Rooftop has several ladders dotted around the building making it impossible to hold it, the two door ways have such wide angles at a distance that anyone can just flank it at a distance and pop shots, I could go on, but those are my only real complaints about those new maps.

Anyone else noticed a lot of dudes jump shotting around corners and stuff in this one? Teabagging too!

I don't mind because the TTK generally makes any fair fight 50/50 regardless of ninja moves, but definitely a very different feeling to older BF's (skipped 2042 so can't comment).

If you are eager to get the new shotgun (DB-12), don't fucking bother for the love of fucking God. I made the grand mistake of getting it and grinding it to get slugs and its awful, worse than the Saiga. It is NOT worth it, especially for forcing yourself to do the Sabatoge challenges.

They buffed the spread when jumping and landing, so you don't lose a lot of accuracy bouncing around. I hate the slides more - you can get away with a lot of dirty shit with those slides.

Also the hit detection is unbelievably fucked after the recent update, so those corner shots are probably horseshit.

Something is fucked with the servers, defibs take like 2 or 3 attempts and a couple times over the weekend i saw the network interpolation chug for a few seconds while people ran around in 15fps stop motion
