It took four studios and a Need for Speed hiatus to get Battlefield to a "return to form," yet they're still laying off people. Well, they DID anticipate "hundreds of millions of players" or something so I guess expectations weren't reached.

The new map is kinda like metro, the VZ61 is fun and the new progression for pistols is pretty nice. I still get fucking bot lobbies on update day during F2P week and thats fucking annoying. The night vision mode is cool but of course they fuck it by making it TDM, SDM, and Domination, the most annoying modes in my opinion.

I predict Hardline on all platforms will be sunsetted very soon as well.

BF: Hardline on PS4/XB1 has been delisted yesterday and will sunset its servers on June 22nd. The PC version remains unaffected.

I'm surprised with how long Hardline lasted before EA would just pull the plug. Of course, Hardline wasn't well received within the Battlefield fandom, but it still had its moments from its DLC expansions, wacky weapons and cops-and-robbers twist.

Hardline was fun, it just came out with too little content that everyone went back to BF4 before the DLC made it a better game.

the issue is not with battlefield specifically for me, its that its EA Executives need to be publicly executed for Crimes Against Gaming, the game industry shouldnt have gotten as large as it is, a team could have made a game mechanically similar to Battlefield 6 (maybe smaller in scale but still) in the late 2000s with like a quarter of the budget, people who dont know what good gameplay is shouldnt have the right to make desicions for games

I suspect all future Battlefield titles will be derivative from BF6. Generic, good, modern military shooters. No more 2142, no Bad Company, no Hardline, just the tried and true historical or modern settings.

I ended up buying BF6 during the Steam sale. I've played just about every entry in the series and one thing I noticed after playing a few rounds (and perhaps this is my age showing) but the overall speed/pace of the game is kind of disorientating. I mean everything happens so fast. Spawn..run a bit and then get laid low. I mean such is life but goddamn man I'm just trying to rack up some kills. Game looks and sounds great though. I guess I'm just glad I got it on sale.

I didn't have any expectations with BF6's campaign, so I found it average. Compare that to Call of Duty 4, a modern military shooter in a similar format from 2007. It doesn't innovate or SAY anything from its missed opportunity of CIA operatives planting a Big Bad for funding.

Now, its multiplayer is fine, but disappointing. Menus suck to navigate to, progression is needlessly padded from challenges, the maps lack character once you've played through them, guns lack intensity, unlocks rely too much on limited time events where you're locked out unless you PLAY or PAY.

I don't pretend to know how this works with map design, but it feels like the entire maps are always under contention. In past games, it was much easier to go to the edge of the map, flank around to points and capture. Here it seems like no matter where you go, you're still constantly under attack. Even in the bigger maps, alway from flags, there's still always a sniper who gets you.

The BF team decided to limit the number of times that you can defib (3 times) without needing a short cooldown. What is the actual point in this, besides being a weird inconvenience?

The problem with reviving is most people just tap revive instead of charging their paddles up. It's a rampant issue on Hagental Base where retard supports will ran around spamming tap revives, only for most of those people to die instantly because they've only been revived at partial health. The intention with the charge limit, along with the added charge UI feedback, is to encourage people to be more thoughtful with their revives.

I have my doubts whether it will have much impact, but at least EA are trying to address the issue.

ETA: I just tried the paddles in the new patch and the cooldown is short. So short I can only see it affecting tap revivers.
