Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

Give me a medium or a heavy. Anything with lots of LRMs.
ARC-2R is an OK choice, if undersinked
HBK-4J's a great choice in the medium bracket
Any Catapult but the A1 is probably OK but not great
Trebuchets are good options in the medium bracket
Whitworth isn't an awful option but not great and not sure if it's in HBStech

It's fine, with everything being just an inch short of an OmniMech in HBS BT, I'm sure most things can be jury-rigged with at least some lurms.

If you need one more ill take a fast jumpy light or medium. If heavies then ill take anything with a big ass.

On a side note im kind of let down with the limited selection of mechs in the HBS BT game.

That might be the only mildly realistic thing about that game. I still have my 4th Edition Box (framed and mounted on the wall), and that one only came with 24 'Mechs. In the Periphery, in 3025? I'm fine with a fairly limited selection.

One thing HBS got right was you can only find certain mechs in certain parts of the Inner Sphere and Periphery.

@Tactical Wizard, are you going to use mods like Inner Sphere map or just play the game vanilla?

The early game is very much a game of lights and mediums dancing around each other. In fact, I actually like that part of the game the most. It makes the battles very fluid. Heavies aren't really going to be a major factor on the field until the mid-game. You get new mechs primarily through salvage and time. While you can buy new mechs in whole or in part, this is a very expensive proposition and isn't always feasible.
I'm in. Put me in anything, I'm not picky. I'd drive an AgroMech with rocket launchers duct taped to the shoulders if I had to
As you wish!

The Whitworth and the HBK-4J aren't in game. The rest are, however and keep their relevancy into the late game.

I'll see what I can stick you in but your wishes are noted.

Negative, Ghost Rider. Vanilla but with Full DLC.
I'll nab something with dakka, if you don't mind, like the Enforcer.
Should be a fairly easy thing to do.

So here's how this thing is going to go. These will be the rules of the playthrough going forward.

1) Ironman Mode: If I go broke or fail a storyline mission, the Playthrough ends.
2) Pilot Lethality: If a mech gets cored, the pilot dies. Life is cheap, battlemechs are expensive and the Periphery is borderline Anarcho-Capitalist hellhole.
3) This will be a campaign playthrough by a Kiwi and for Kiwis. Kickstarter pilots won't be hired, only the procedurally generated ones and they'll be customized into proper Kiwis. Our Kiwis will be rotated into operations as quickly as possible given that the game starts you off with a set number of pilots in the campaign.
4) Lore-Friendliness: Typically in BT, mech pilots are paired to the battlemech that they pilot if not outright. Ergo, mechs will be rotated off of the duty roster if the pilot is injured and vice-versa. As game-play progresses, the goal will be to expand to a full company of twelve battlemechs, each with an assigned pilot that (Null Willing) will be partnered with a willing kiwi. Initial hiring order will be as follows: @White Devil @Corn Flakes @Deepthoughts @Snekposter

Are you doing campaign or career? Can I request the starter Vindicator or Jenner? Never was a fan of Commandos. I figured your commander pilot would take the Blackjack.

If you're looking for more pilots I'll take a spot. Preferred mech would be either a Marauder-3R or Hunchback-4P, but if it has a lot of pewpew it's good. I'd even roll with a Vindicator if it's available.

Alright guys, I’m in the mood for another project. Would anyone be up for an LP of the HBS Battletech game?

The X-Com LP has been ridiculously fun and it seems like this thread has a pretty chill crew.
If you have room and find one, Marauder or Banshee-3M. Tall order, but my namesake kinda sucks in vanilla HBS with the changed heat on PPCs.

One thing I very much appreciate about Troontech is that it's easy to modify the config file to put stuff more in line with lore if you wish it. I made a few tweaks on my Career game so that weapons feel more like TT and missions/selling mechs etc aren't as miserly. I wish the Leopard only mods were more stable, I'd use that instead of the Argo. It would be nice if modders made other dropships you could use instead as well. I'd rather have a more lore friendly Overlord or something than use the Argo every time for a career.
