Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

You guys would love this book.

Or just the 'Mech Duel Rules in general. I never got around to messing with them, but you can do some silly shit with them.
Some of the S7 mechs and weapons systems are just hilarious. The Fluid Gun? If you can mount it in the CT, maybe position it low. Yeah. And then Hatchets in both arms. There we go.

So I went on Etsy and found a seller with some 3D printer minis for honestly good prices; $6 per model plus $10 total shipping, plus he's based out of my home country of Canuckistan. Ordered me an Urbie, a Hunchback, a Fafnir and the glorious Archer flipping the enemy off that I posted a while ago. Once they come in and I paint them, I'll be sure to post my Donegal Guard based army.

Also, have to fight the urge to not paint the Archer in Taurian colours. The model just screams "Get the fuck out of the Periphery!"
I'm so sorry you're a leaf.

Get yourself a Wyvern IIC and tinker with it a bit. It already has Arena 'Mech aesthetics, and the crotch-mounted gun.

Bonus points for pissing off the Clanners by turning one of their 'mechs into a dedicated melee platform.

Man, no wonder the Onslaught isn't exactly seen outside of Solaris. I can't imagine anyone wanting to pony up the 20 million outside of maybe Space Kim Jong Un for his personal ride. 375XL's be expensive. And who the hell is crazy enough to actually hop in the cockpit of a Juggernaut and its 2 tons of MG ammo, especially with how hot that sucker gets with all of those X-Pulses? It doesn't even have CASE so an overheat is a one-way trip to being the center of a brand-new star. That thing makes the Supernova look like a faded brown dwarf.

That book is filled with cancer designs and I fucking love it. Especially the Colossus.

I swear I've seen the C-Bill cost of the Mad Cat IV somewhere before and it's butt puckeringly expensive, even for the silly IS Economy. XXL Engine and all. I'm sure Clan Happy Merchant is happy to sell you an insurance and service package that's only slightly more expensive. Such a deal!

Edit: Double checked on SSW, the Mad Cat IV Prime is almost 92 Million C-Bills. Not even the most Expensive Mech either.

I actually went to REMLAB and they don't have Fluid Guns in loadout options for Solaris rules. I am sad. Was going to put a Flamer in HD, Fluid Gun in CT, Hatchets on both arms and then try to figure out a way to cram a Supercharger, TSM (I forget if Supercharger and TSM can be combined) and a Plasma Rifle in each side torso. On a 5/8/5 Assault.

A lot of those 32nd Century mechs run an arm and a leg. The Malice started off as a Republic of the Sphere design. The base model has a ridiculously pricey 400XL engine and the top of line luxury MAL-YZ is even more absurd.
  • This Malice variant uses the best technology available to both the Inner Sphere and the Clans. The top speed drops to 54 km/h, but an XXL Engine is used to free up large amounts of weight. A Clan spec Endo Steel chassis is used to hold the engine, while a Compact Gyro frees up room in the center torso. Both the engine and gyro are Armored Components as are the hips. Improved protection is provided by Ferro-Lamellor armor, backed up by Modular Armor on the arms, legs, and front torso locations. The left and right torsos also use integrated CASE provided by Clan engineers. An Angel ECM Suite, Clan TAG system, and C3 Slave are available for electronic warfare support. The Malice-YZ carries two torso mounted Remote Sensor Dispensers as well. For additional protection against missiles, a Clan built Laser AMS is carried in each arm. Offensively, each arm carries a Clan built Large Pulse Laser and the left and right torsos each have a single Clan made ER Large Laser. Twelve double heat sinks work hard to manage the heat load but if they are overwhelmed there are two Coolant Pods available to the pilot to get a quick cool-down. BV (2.0) = 2,949
One of the most poorly armed 100 tonners I have ever seen, but god damn is it a great way to show off the (former) size of your bank account.

How the fuck do you blow nearly 3k in BV and end up with something that can still get its ass kicked by an Atlas

Oh yeah, 125 Million. The Sasquatch 003 is the most expensive IS mech at almost 189 Million. Still only the second most expensive mech, but the most expensive one is kinda cheating. Fucking Scientist Caste and their broken toys.

I don't know, two clan LPLs,, two clan ERLLs, and a pair of LAMS? With Ferro-Lamellor under all that extra armor? That's legit hard to kill.

To be fair the Sasquatch is a bespoke Solaris design from VEST, not something designed for actual military service. They're the same guys who created the infamous Great Turtle and its "Has a chance to survive an unassisted orbital insertion" levels of durability for Solaris VII as well.

You can get a Warhawk-C for ~50 extra BV. Warhawk-Cs are pure, unadulterated bullshit. Or get a Bane Prime for 1,000 less BV and sandblast the motherfucker to death.

Ferro-Lamellor laughs in rounding down at sandblasters. The Malice is still stupid, but it will dump on an Atlas. Which is why you bring a Hellstar and call it even.

Oh, it rounds down. SHIT.

OK fuck it Hellstar it is.
Yeah, there were questions about using it to make VTOLs much harder to kill and I believe the TBTP said even if LB-X cluster rounds do 0 damage, you still roll for motive damage. So you might not shoot the rotor off, but you can drop them out of the sky.

I understand why it happens, since it would be impossible to run unit prices otherwise, but equipment prices being exactly the same all the way from 2750 to 3150+ always makes me chuckle. No matter how many factories are building them, no matter how commonplace the design is, no matter the improvements in production technology... those medium lasers are going to cost 40,000 C-bills a pop and that's that. 400 years, Four Succession wars, a Clan invasion, two huge Civil Wars and a Jihad, not a drop of inflation. Now that's a powerful economy.

Really, BattleMechs have no depreciation over time and the parts always cost the same, so it wouldn't be a bad investment to just buy a bunch of 'Mechs, mothball them somehwere safe, and then flip 'em for a higher price whenever the next "it all went to shit and we need 'mechs right the fuck now!" event rolls in. Actually, that sounds suspiciously like the Diamond Sharks...

Can I interest you in a used Ti- I mean, Mad Cat, freeborn?

Bane Prime has Ultra 2's. Considering you only drop a single point for every five, that's still 1 damage a hit. While a 50% hit to your damage output is bad, you can still roll for TAC, especially if you hammer the poor thing with 20 shots in one turn.

Also, we don't talk about the Hellstar. The fans asked for a super-optimized design, and they got what they deserved.

Clan Happy Merchant Diamond Shark Sea Fox is happy to assist with all BattleMech related goods and services... for a small fee, of course.
