Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
So despite already combing through his work regarding Battletech and Leviathan as well as his social media and confirming it wasn't an issue a few months ago, suddenly his online presence is an issue? Unless they provide transcripts of the call like Blaine said he's working on himself, this is just backpedalling to cover their potential financial loses.

Its a huge red flag. Complete counter to what CGL posted when the announcement first came out.
So, of the possible options here:

1. Loren Coleman is drunk off his ass after a bottle of liquor likely purchased with embezzled money, ignore him, he's a retard
2. CGL backpedaled
3. Mystery option that involves something like crossed wires, a rogue PR person spouting bullshit, Pardoe being a retard, or... CGL no longer being the contract holder? Idk.

Which is the most likely?

CGL doesn't have the money for Blaine Lee Pardoe.

What the everliving fuck is this? That's amazingly incoherent.
"difference in online strategies"

I mean, that does not countermand what CGL said simply because it's so goddamn vague that it could mean the exact same thing as CGL's "muh online activities" line. What those actually do mean is probably the actual question and I would be surprised if we ever found out.

Pardoe's stuff does read like something I'd find in a Tucker Carlson rant
IIRC, Tucker Carlson is the most popular talking head on American TV. He's definitely not far-anything, and up until he started saying Russia Dindu Nuffin was blandly milquetoast in how he went about things. Certainly more boring than half of A&N.
For instance, Sorenson's Sabres and Snord's Irregulars are very iconic mercenary troops that were shaped by BLP.
Wait, they fired the guy behind Snord's Irregulars?

Eyup.

Porchman made a post about the current affairs. Then my brain shut off halfway because hes either phone posting or the mans drunk.View attachment 3556740
CGL continuing to sell Pardoe's work is actually worse than outright not selling his stuff. It means they still reap the benefits of his work, while being utter cuntwipes about it. If this was about genuine moral issues, it would only be moral to also no longer sell Pardoe's work.

You can't have your cake and eat it, too. Pardoe is either Hitler and you don't want to associate with him and his works, or you're fine with selling his works and thus you continue to pay him to make said works.

This is CGL backpedalling like crazy, note the "not to purchase new works [from Pardoe] for the time being."

Already, they backpedal. If enough people come shit up their booth at this gamecon thing with questions as to why they stab one of their oldest contributors in the back, I expect them to announce that there has been a misunderstanding and all they meant was they would not purchase any new works in 2022 (cause Pardoe is totally such an amazing and important writer to them, they want him to take the rest of the year off!) and they will resume cooperating with Pardoe in 2023 with a lot of new books!

They won't if the grognards actually side with Pardoe on this one.

The funny thing is, BT grognards have watched companies come and go, BT prevailed. They can literally just watch CGL burn to the ground, wait a few years and then get their fix from a company that doesn't treat them like lepers at a gangbang.

I don't follow Battletech but heard about this controversy and the above is absolutely plausible because Loren Coleman has form in this area.

CGL bought out Shadowrun and when a group of very dedicated freelancers had pretty much saved the franchise (and imo produced the best edition yet), CGL refused to pay them for work done. IIRC, they were behind the scenes trying to get paid for a year before one or two of them finally went public and the whole thing blew open. And the reason they weren't being paid was because Loren Coleman had chosen to spend all the money on building himself a house in California.

CGL treated the Shadowrun freelances like absolute crap and I 100% could believe that they are simply trying not to pay someone for their work (again).

Heard something about that, but only in remarks. Good to know.

If it's found out they're pulling that shit again, CGL might be royally fucked in the public eye for not only doing it to someone working on two of their properties, but for doing it a second time.

Yeah the whole thing was a massive boondongle.

Ah, Frank Trollman. On many things I didn't see eye to eye with him but he's a hero for blowing open that shitshow. He absolutely did the right thing in going public.

Just reading down that list of names brings back memories. Jennifer Harding, Bobby Derie (aka Ancient History. An awesome guy), Adam Jury... Gods that was a shitshow and Loren Coleman is a duplicitous ass. Also, he had zero understanding of the setting. I think it was him who wanted to add flying castles a la Dragonlance to Shadowrun. It's been a while though. Somebody did. And interdimensional forests. I can't remember - anyway this is the TrannyBattleTech thread so I should get too off-topic.

This whole story about CGL trying to save money and fucking over creators definitely gives off some déja vu vibes.

I talked to an art contractor hired by CGL to design some 'mechs, they let him do his work, he submitted, the art director didn't like it and refused to pay him. This jewery apparently is calculated strategy on CGL's part.
