That went through my mind when the whole CGL/Pardoe fiasco went down as well. Just show up at your LGS with a thumbdrive of STL files... or a few neatly painted 3D print mechs (to spark people's interest) and a shoebox full of "leftovers" and "test prints" to hand out.

>Oh, you like this Marauder? Thank you! Wanna try painting one yourself? I've got a few I printed, you might wanna give it a shot? Never mind, I don't need those anyway.
>Man yeah, shitsucks that CGL is way behind their shipping schedule, it will take months until the Urban Lance is back in stock... wait a minute, you want the Victor, look what I got here!
>Nah man, it's cool, I usually print several copies of the same mech in one go, just in case something goes awry, so I have a lot of them to spare. Help yourself.

You'll be the coolest kid in town and ten bucks of resin will easily gimp CGL out of sales in the tripple digits. Seriously, a litre of resin is like 25 bucks and you can print a shitload of Mechs with that amount.

But what is this of CGL stealing minis at conventions? Is this them stealing nice-looking minis cause they are magpies in human form or do they steal them for a purpose other than being dicks? I don't get this at all. If they steal dioramas and minis, do they put them on display to brag? What the fuck is wrong with these people?
"Oh, your minis disappeared? What a shame! Well, you'll be happy to know we're selling a bunch of minis so you can recoup your losses!" - CGL probably

So, I did a thing. I want to have a Highlander 732b, so I modified the STL file for a regular 732.

I added a third Medium Laser to the left torso and put the Royal Black Watch insignia on the right shoulder:

I am pretty certain this will not print well, but it's worth a shot lol

I have trouble believing that it would be something this base... like, it does make sense, but the mental image of CGL stealing minis just so people have to buy new ones. I dunno.
It'd be easier for me to believe that it's a bunch of CGL chucklefucks being jelly of neatly painted minis, so they steal them to put in their collection.

But stealing painted minis must be the single dumbest thing one could do. I'd recognize every single piece I ever painted and I'd be pissed if I found them in the bag of someone else. I would kick the thief's ass.

And if it reached a point where I know I need to have people around keeping an eye on my stuff so CGL asshats don't just "accidentally" pack them in with their own stuff... I'd actually set up a few minis as bait, wait for them to grab'em and then kick their ass. Also posting videos of them stealing my shit, that I'd send to every single BT discord and youtuber I can find.

Re: MegaMek

It's been a few years since I've played but I'm pretty sure MegaMek and MekHQ come packaged with rules so you can switch between whichever ruleset you want to play.

So couple of posts on the chans I wanted to share. First One is this.

Followed by this one.
Yeah, I had just seen those, and wanted to know if there was any sort of corroboration for them. Not that I don't believe it, but if you're going to convince your fellow hobbyists to stick it to CGL, you need something more than "bro I saw it on 4chan."

My friend is setting up the first set of minis for printing as we speak.

One Griffin, one Highlander, one Warhammer and one Black Knight. Except the Griffin, I modified the mechs to carry the Royal Black Watch Insignia. According to him, his printer is capable of printing 10micrometres per layer and a resolution of 5 micrometers... I'll post images when there are any results.

Upside of getting a lot of printed minis, you save so much money, you can easily afford the occasional IWM binge.

Pictures or GTFO is a real rule.

There’s a guy at my lgs that’ll 3d print models for a modest fee. Once I get around to picking up an Alpha Strike rulebook and some elementals I’ll probably just go through him moving forward.

Looks like Sails of Glory on a hex-map.

Edit:
Fuck me. The new Mercenary Box will contain a Devastator. Also the new Highlander in the Northwind Highlanders Lance Pack has a tiny crushed Urbanmech as part of its base design.
And there's photos of a few Battle Armor troops and a Madcat and a Marauder . . . in 28mm scale. Apparently, there's a product in developement, possibly some Warhammer 40k or Kill Team knockoff.
CGL might be crap with how they do business, but I'd be lying if I said these boxes aren't really fucking tempting.

i havent seen anything like that. I know there's a new troop movement game called BATTLETECH: COMMAND and a remake of the old Succession Wars board game called Resurgent Empires: A Succession Wars game. Where did you hear of a kill team thing?

There was an image of Battle Armor troops in 28mm scale with a handwritten sign that they were part of a game that's in developement. Killteam was just the first thing that came to my mind.

I gotta say, some BT stuff on myminifactory is simply amazing.

This offers you an absurd amount of individual parts to make your favorite Urbanmech, be it the Standard R60 with its AC10, the notorious R60L and its mighty AC20, the bold R68 and its MRM30 or the legendary AIV with it's FUCK YOU AND EVERYTHING IN A 1KM CIRCLE AROUND YOU.

You can choose between 4 torso designs, different leg designs and poses for the feet, with many, many weapon models to use for kitbashing.

I have that too, although I haven't updated it in a while. One thing to keep in mind is to remember flipping one of the print files for the legs, otherwise you'll have two for the same side
