Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

Slept on the iron Cheetah.. JFC what a rape machine.
Had one on table last week my God it's a fire magnet for good reason but it took out about 2.5 it's BV.

I didn't even have dice gods bless me. It's just that brutal.

Alpha strike has fans?!? I assumed the cards that came with my mechs were there because CGL hated trees or something.

Battletech is a crunchy complex game and that's it's greatest strength in the market. I can have a satisfying back and forth fight with 8 minis. I genuinely don't understand why I would pick Alpha Strike over other skirmish game slop out there? Does anyone here play it?
Battletech is definitely more complex and is overall a better game, but Alpha Strike is better when you just want to have a few quick games or if you want to bring a lot of units.

I'm certain that the Sharks/Foxes engaged in an above average amount of hand rubbing when they realized how much they could mark up something with all those expensive weight-saving components, especially that 400XL engine.

Someone made their own version of Battletech with the serial numbers filed off. Specifically looks a lot like that ancient DOS Battletech game, I think?

Looks like it used to be called BattleMercs. Guessing CGL sent their goons after them?

Some of these mech icons are just straight up just PGI designs, I wonder if CGL can still chase them about that.

Some of those mech description codes are straight out of Battletech -- Dragoon, for example, uses the same DRG-XX signifier as the Dragon. I saw a Champion IIRC that used the standard CHP-xNy code.

Not sure if some of them have been changed and they haven't updated the promo material or what. The Steam page does have an AI disclaimer claiming that some placeholder art is Ai Generated.

Could it possibly be that those are chinese counterfits?
No, the elementals I received last year also have this same quality and those came from their online store. The quality of their plastic miniatures are pretty bad. I’ve received a kodiak in the clan ad hoc star with 2 left arms and a rifleman with sagging barrels.

I ran the prime it's expensive at over 3100 bv (3155)
Prime is loaded with (all clan stuff)
2 med pulses
2 er peeps
1 Gauss
1 er sl
1 lrm15 arty4 boosted
AMS
This out of a heavy armored 4/6 100 tonner. It's fuckin mean

The other configs are just as scary
Yup. The C is similar to the DW Prime, trading in the Ultras for SSRM-2 and upgrading the LRM to an LRM-15, the B's got jump jets and pulse lasers with a TC to guarantee you'll hit even with you bunny hopping more than a Quake player, and the D's got Gauss, LB-20-X, 2 LPL, and ECM. The A's probably the weakest since it has a bunch of machine guns but even then a UAC/20, 2 SSRM-6, a pair of LPL and an Active Probe is nothing to sneer at.

Good grief talk about a 100 tons of rape.

I actually enjoy alpha strike, but there’s a lot of people who only play it competitively and they take the fun out of it because they have to play minmax lists of combined arms. I feel like that’s who CGL was playing to with the kickstarter campaign last year that still hasn’t shipped to people that backed it day one.

Playing BattleTech competitively at all is retarded to begin with. Playing Alpha Strike competitively is even more retarded. The game is practically designed for you to throw randomly-generated lances at one another. That's what those free Alpha Strike stat cards are for.

I like the structure that they tried to do with AS350 because it limited people to 2 copies of any unit and no skills better than 2 and only one unit could have that along with era limitations. The game stops being fun when a guy with a bunch of skill 3 or less [7+/7+/x ] units just blow up everything you have then take the objective. That said, it’s incredibly gay seeing people fielding infantry guys to squat objectives and a bunch of other faggy WAAC shit gets old quick. It seems like that kind of tourneyfagging is bad in AS.

Is there a way to get cards for AS without buying more miniatures? I like printing sheets and marking them off with pencil from mech factory so I can reuse them later for the og game. It would be nice to try out more stuff in AS without spending my whole paycheck on possibly melted plastic mechs just so I can get the one mech I wanted from the box.

Here, enjoy yourself.

Originally this WAS supposed to be a more straightforward Battletech fan game.

I'm assuming Jay was smart enough to rebrand before any legal tomfuckery happened

I thought I saw something he said that implied he was forced to rebrand, but I can't find it again with a quick search. But yeah, it looks fun.

It very very much reminds me of CHR. Which is probably intentional.
