Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

Played against mechs with shields for the first time last night and it was different. I won, but it took alot and felt like crap to hit bunch of srms only to have them eaten. I'd say the Sasquatch was the best mech for shields as Gauss + Pulse in shield side let him give off some nasty shots. XXL engines are terrible so I wouldn't personally use it, but it put in some nasty work.

oh btw im sure you are all aware of it but we are getting MW5 merc clans DLC
1753050184301.webp
release date is September
doesnt look like its a story driven dlc but it would be nice to play sandbox game fighting clans
edit ah i see you are already talking about it

I just got a new PC for a lot of reasons but amped to try this.

Unrelated and don't kiss my butt, my friends trolled me for my Bday.. I got a banshee (areo) and enfield painted int a wood grain with blued metal...

I love me the banshee, so here's one.. lol u
The Enfield is a solid AF mech and basically an invasion era tech enforcer (my fav) but also name of old rifle.. so they painted it like an old rifle.

We all need friends like this.

Show us. That sounds amazing. Banshee and Enfield are dope regardless but being creative with the color schemes is what sells me.

I was going to mention the samsquanch as a great shield mech, but it looks like you fought it first-hand. The thing is, BV wise the sasquatch isn't bad at all, but if you want to buy it using C-bills? That's not an XXL engine, that's a LARGE XXL engine, something you'd slap on a small craft or mobile structure or dropship. That thing's over $100,000,000 in just the engine alone, all to get it to haul ass with that big shield. I love it though, I have a 3D printed samsquanch in my 'experimental weapons' battalion.

Yeah it was the only mech of his that genuinely scared me to fight. Everything else I knew I could take and did, the end game of was my Kingfisher and Thor pouring everything they had left into the sasquatch and it just plodding along throwing back Gauss. He conceded after it fell, but it was close.

I love VEST for being batshit crazy with designs. They also did the Great Turtle, which is equally unkillable but has way less firepower on account of using a standard engine and a compact gyro.

Also, whoever came up with the new info table layout for Mechs on Sarna needs to die in a fire.

Would it be a worthwhile project (in terms of game mechanics) to upgrade an Awesome to use modern components i.e. ER PPCs and lighter armor?

Was VEST the guys that came up with the Volkh? I've been using those lately because they are HILARIOUS If you can get them to do their jobs as melee-sluggers.

Yup that's another VEST creation. Funny how they got their hands on a lot NAIS prototypes and mash them into Solaris Mechs. They also invented the Aquagladius, a Mech that can more or less swim and survive under water. Though their main rival Solaris Arms calls some of their designs "white elephants" being money sinks without much use except special circumstances. Then again Solaris Arms builds a Mech called the Juggernaut, armed with 12 machine guns and nobody bothered to install CASE Especially as the X-Pulse lasers would fry the Mech if it ever dares to Alpha Strike

There's a lot of modern (Ie: post-3050) mechs that are just What You See is What You Get upgrades of the Introtech mechs we all know and love. Going off just MegaMek (which I HIGHLY recommend even if you don't plan on playing with it; it has all sorts of useful gadgets) you have the Awesome 9Ma that swaps out the PPCs for ERs and gives itself double heatsinks to try and stay cool, along with the 11H that Swiss mentioned above. If you're not trying to stay What you See is What you Get the Awesome 9M and 9Q are both interesting variants, while unsurprisingly the Clans have one with -4- ERPPCs and enough heatsinks to fire off most of them without cooking.
