Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

Has anyone ever fielded those Solaris arena mechs that are just melee weapons or whatever weird stuff is going on with them? I see them in IWM’s catalog but I’ve never seen anyone using them.

I've got some of those dumb spikey dudes in my collection but I haven't actually gotten a chance to put them on the table yet. The Flashfire seems like a ton of fun if you use alternative payloads to run around putting oil-slicks on the map.

I dare you to challenge someone to fight that on an Urban map. Let me know how many turns it takes for them to die of basement.

I'd be surprised if they make it through deployment without being eaten by a grue basement.
DROP THE BASS(ment)
What's this about basements? I'm probably forgetting it and it's obvious but I haven't touched anything BT related in a while.
I NEED IT

In Urban maps, if you walk through buildings there's a chance you'll suffer an immediate one height fall into the basement, with all of the consequences you'd expect. Its also not uncommon for pilots to fail their various PSR's to get up and walk out so badly and so many times they kill themselves from concussion.

And if you're a combat vehicle or something that doesn't have legs... GG, no re.

There used to be a guy that’d come to play on Saturday nights who loved urban maps because he’d just set up a bunch of artillery, fighters and battle armors. I like mechs like the piranha and the cadaver, but I couldn’t imagine how miserable it’d be if you just wanted to deploy a lance/star/level of mechs and they get nuked immediately by a long Tom or some team with LRMs.

That's what makes playing pinball with Savannah Masters and other hovercraft in urban maps so much fun. One missed turn, one 1-hex skid into a building, and you can hear the Mexican soccer announcer yelling out GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL.

Welp, time to make a map with nothing but buildings with basements called Necktech.

Man would thrive in the setting as a Planetary Guard. I like this man, this man is an inspiration.
"How it feels to refuse their batchall knowing you've already got the booby traps installed and artillery pre-zeroed."
Average Cl*nner response.
