Remember that the Inglesias' art piece of a Firestarter blasting furries got edited and used repeatedly as book cover art and official art.

Simpler times.

Ah, TheB33f. A man with a Quebecois accent so thick I thought he was doing a bit at first, and a cheerfully trollish mindset that always makes me grin.
I miss him because he wasn't meta he goofed off, god forbid you play a game for fun. WINNING IS MOST IMPORTANT... won't name but a certain, German YTer...

Oh gosh so for Halloween, we played a Black Marauder story, funny enough to really push it. We had to use pathfinder rules. It also made the game so much more unsettling because it "breaks canon" but a slight delay on mechs vs the BM running equal like normal.

My friend who hosts it just did a great job but let me tell you when a Marauder breaks out 50 feet away and you try to pivot away and it takes 3 seconds... oh and you're in a beat up stinger... yeah.

We all were horribly murdered and it was a great time.

Wait, that's his actual speaking voice? Damn, that's even more hilarious. I loved his MWO content back in the day for the pure memetic glory. Nothing will ever beat the sheer awesome glory of the Partyback.

My favorite was him fucking around on the test server and realizing that someone fat fingered the missile cooldown rate on one of the quickdraws by a factor of 100. Hilarity ensued.

I mean theres specialist mechs like archer and catapult that are dedicated missile boats
Emphasis mine. You know, the Catapult can be pretty horrifying in close combat with that 4x ML array it has. Maybe the Archer can too, god knows the books make it a close combat machine, but I don't run it in my normal lances so I can't say one way or the other.

oh trust me i know
we played a game where we didnt knew each other configs and i decided to haras the dude's catapult with my comando
it was a butterbee

I'm a just leave this here, sorry if it's been posted before but I can't be assed to go back 100 pages

The archer is very capable of kicking ass at close range ingame, and the damn thing has way more armor than a missile boat has any business running. There's even variants that gear it further towards close range combat. An enemy Archer will always give me more pause than your average squishy lrm thrower.

how much armor does archer has, like 12?
i know that catapult has 10 which is the same as the hunchback or a dragon which are supposed to be brawler mechs

13 tons. I swear every time I face an Archer in Megamek or Mechwarrior they just refuse to go down unless I core them with an AC/20 or Gauss salvo

The LRM 20s are a beginner's trap. The ARC-2R is a melee suit. You roll it in there, soak up shots, kick them legs, and then when it inevitably falls over after 30 turns of shooting, you can still have it kick in some medium lasers no matter where it falls because of the rear guns. 3025 gameplay is more like wrestling than tank combat.

It's all about heat management if you're rolling the 3025 classic (-2R). You hang back while your mates advance, harassing the enemy with staggered LRM launches.

Once you're out or they've closed, then move on in and start punching and kicking.

What's even worse is a Clan refit of the Archer where they replace the Is launchers with Clan versions. Lighter, no minimum range. That's one hell of a heavy mech

Also Wolves on Tukayyid. So basically a "Smash the ComGuard" game. In a battle where most of the Clans got kicked up and down the garden path. Maybe you play as Phelan

This is why I prefer the variants that swap the 20s for 15s to make room for more brawling weapons.
