Your mechs look to be on the goopy side, either the models themselves are shit with poor definition or your paint is too thick and needs to be thinned down, I can't tell which without having seen the unpainted models. The weapon ports and armor lines aren't sharp like they should be. A lot of Catalyst's plastics are complete garbage tier, so I don't want to throw shade on your paint job when the minis themselves might just look like that.
My airbrush fucked up so I had to hand paint a lot of it and I am still learning how to thin my paints so it's probably the paint being goopy. But also my phones camera is dogshit so the models look a lot worse than they do with the naked eye.

If anyone wants a crash course in painting I recommend starting with this guy: https://www.youtube.com/@NightShiftScaleModels/videos
Sort by oldest videos and watch any series (the ball tank, french char, whatever).
He's a historical display guy who really loves covering everything in mud but it'll give you an eye for details and (improvising) tools at the high end.

Then watch literally any warhammer dude running through speed techniques, like this fag: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvjfNca-pQ4 (and others on sponging, airchop, etc).
That'll show you what to expect aiming for good results while half-assing it. And when paint-thinning is just a meme.

Then you can decide where in the middle you want to end up depending how much of a shit you give and what crap you have lying around.

Yeah, I'll take a look, I just got some flow improver which fixed my airbrush problem. It's a shitty single action, so it kept clogging up. I also practiced thinning more with this guy, orange is a cock sucker to paint with though.

I use speedpaint/contrast, whichever brand has the color closest to my particular need. They're fairly handily thin and sink into recessed sections with darker pigment so they basically autopilot the ink/wash step from yesteryear which is appealing to me because I'm old and lazy. As long as you don't load up the brush all crazy with them and slop them onto parts you don't want that color, they're pretty foolproof.

I can't paint to a point I just have my buddy do it all for me. I just ordered a few new minis so I'll try again.

So if you get the new MW5 chaos march (and you should it looks dope) if you post you get free shit in MWO.

It's a hunchback looks like an AC MG and lasers... but with extra armor. The damned 4n keeps being denied :( But more hunchies I'm happy. So guess armor pods will be in MWO soon since MW5 has it.

We posting minis?

Speedpaints/Contrast paints are a huge help if you don't want to learn the ins and outs of proper painting.
They're quite useful. I haven't messed with them much, but I used the white Apothecary White Contrast paint for the white parts on these models:

The purple and grey was done normally though, mainly dry brushed. I wasn't 100% satisfied with how the white turned out, but white is always hard to get right, so the Contrast paints at least sped the process up immensely.

It's been years and I never got around to these guy's bases lol. They would have looked like this Warhammer's base:

So most white paints are going to be more grayish. Apothecary white especially comes out gray. If you want a "True" white i'd recommend picking up Proacryls Bold Titanium White, it's the best white on the market.

Not my models, but someone used it to paint their mechs

Basically, base coated with another Proacryl paint, their bright neutral gray and then highlighted with their Bold Titanium White. But if you don't want to do that, what you can do is prime with a light gray in general and then use apothecary white.

This model was done with Apothecary white with "bone" as the base for the armor. So, Bone undercoat, apothecary white over it. pure white to highlight

This guide is also a huge help for painting whites

Yeah, my go to is Ulthuan Grey highlighted with a pure white. Simple but effective. Like on this guy (who is ironically supposed to be an apothecary):

I didn't have anything but pure white on hand for topcoating those battlemechs, and I just wanted to try out Contrast for the first time raw. I'd be interested to try it over a sepia or bone top/basecoat. I don't think they turned out bad, in retrospect I just wonder if darker panel lines wouldn't look better since they're all straight, blocky lines.

Based beakie.

My friend is making a commission, a gunslinger Jared. It's the one with 2 left arms off a Zeus (lrm15). I'm really looking forward to watching him make this.

Finished up the MWO event took the Sigma, shit's hilarious. 2 HLLs so fast pinpoint on a mad dog.

The "I'm a grizzled Periphery merc" LARP
His lore videos framed as an in-universe former merc, now history professor, giving a lecture is possibly the best part of the whole series. The issue is he extended the LARP to becoming a tenured professor that has the leeway for distractions, tangents and project ponies. Tex not being able to shut up about the Barron Class Destroyers during the Warhammer episode and being as subtle as a 10 pound hammer with the LCS parallels is a great example.

how is MWO? been meaning to check it out
It's free to try, you just missed out on a huge event with tons of good freebies. They now give a mech a month free roughly. I don't play a lot, because I prefer real TT with frenz, I'm not a huge gamer, and I don't have a ton of FT but I still can always "get" the goodies.

I just snagged the "sigma" mad dog, it's got 2 laser slots only but they burst like 85% faster so heavy large lasers shoot as quick (firing time not cool down) like a small laser, turns it into a pin point monster. Super super fucking fun.

If you want hit me up for some basics and toss you on my friends list, I normally play, drunk on weekends late (EST).

It's still being worked on stuff added but you can tell even with the advances of time line it's slowing big. Learn to play lights since everyone is a retard who just sits spamming 1 button for missiles.

Bit unbalanced with shitty hitboxes for the devs favorite mechs, premium mechs being better than most other mechs, and it takes a while to earn enough C-Bills to get even one of the good mechs (especially assaults). However, it's still pretty fun and not too hard to get somewhere as a FTP. I was FTP for most of my playtime before I bit the bullet and bought the Spitfire mech pack, pretty fun mech and not OP. In fact I'd argue most mechs aren't OP, just better or worse than the average of their class. New players get a lot of C-Bills if they play for a bit.
I found this guy's post is pretty good for someone's perspective from a new players to a decent one.

I do not care for tex. He has some incredibly faggoty opinions, which would not be the end of the world, but he then combines it with 'i am/was formerly omegadepressed so you cant be mean to me' and he has recruited many tard guards on the basis of the latter which is an insufferable combo

Yeah, this shit becoming more apparent to me over time would be disappointing, if this wasn't just how basically ever tuber gets.

I have over 1k hours into this stupid game..
Only 1k? Got to pump those numbers.

The only things I'd say is that T4/5 is very different to T1/2, you can run some real trash builds in low tier like the OP is and as long as you can hold a burn you'll be able to get respectable numbers and positive PSR. I also don't like him recommending grimmechs to new players since I think trying new builds and realising they're dogshit is a fun and important part of the game that helps you become a better player in the longrun, some conventional TT logic that seems like it would make sense in MWO doesn't and I think a lot of people get caught up on it.
