If anyone wants a crash course in painting I recommend starting with this guy:

He's a historical display guy who really loves covering everything in mud but it'll give you an eye for details and (improvising) tools at the high end.
Then watch literally any warhammer dude running through speed techniques, like this fag:

That'll show you what to expect aiming for good results while half-assing it. And when paint-thinning is just a meme.
Then you can decide where in the middle you want to end up depending how much of a shit you give and what crap you have lying around.
