Happy early 4th of July to all the Fed Su.... Americans.

We did a mock CBT game of Battle of Bunker hill. Damn we got STOMPED we tried a bunch of lighter mechs top of a hill it just didn't work moblity didn't much matter against the wall crawling up. Fun idea, wondering how we could balance it better.

You'd need some sort of sizeable hit penalty for the advancing forces to represent the cover the Americans used, plus plenty of LRM's and AC/2 and AC/5 for the defenders to they can plink away.

Come on now, we all know the most American coded factions are in the Periphery. Taurians for their Texas parts, Outworlds for their Amish isolationism, even the Magistry for capitalism and degeneracy. If you did need to pick an Inner Sphere polity to map the US onto, the FWL fits way better than the Fedrats.

Is there an easy answer as to what the best way to buy Mechwarrior 5 is? There's like 10 DLCs, 2 of them aren't included in any of the bundles and one of the bundles excludes the other main game (Clans).

Failing that, is there a good way to get ahold of or try Mechwarrior 5 + DLC without the potentially $50-80 buy in, even with a sale? I'm worried I'm not getting the full picture since the repacks I've seen only have some of the DLC.

Really enjoyed playing through MW2 and MW2 Mercs a while back, I want to get back into another MW game but this is tripping me out.

Ok, I'll make it easy for you: That middle bundle is what I'd buy a friend if I was getting them MW5M, especially at that discount.

One of the DLCs just came out a little bit ago, the other not too long before that, so that's probably why they aren't in that middle bundle there. Pretty standard not to have the most recent few DLCs in the bundles.

The game has a campaign mode which is the story of Mason, and career mode, which is an open ended sandbox mode which I guess was added in DLC1. Once you finish campaign mode you're put in career mode, and you can import saves and the like.

The DLCs mostly add their own DLC campaigns playable in career mode when the timeline reaches them, but they also add changes to the sandbox mode. For example, Heroes of the Inner Sphere added something called Hero Mechs (oddball semi-unique mechs, often a reference to BT novels, previous MW games, or MWO) and special mini-campaigns about some of these. Solaris Showdown not only had a storyline campaign about the cool announcer dude from the previous mechwarrior games, it also added arena combat and an entire progression system. Rise of Rasalhague added rival mercs to the map. Call to Arms added melee mechs, and we'll try and forgive them someday for it.

The two DLCs missing are Shadow of Kerensky (adds the start of the Clan invasion) and Chaos Reign (adds Omnimechs, Battle Armor, and the immediate post-Tukayyid plot). By the time you notice these aren't there you'll know if you want them or not.

Wut? Omnimechs and battle armor came with SoK on account of the Clans, unless you mean Inner Sphere versions of those.

Er, yes, I did.

I haven't gotten around to DLC7 or DLC8 cause by the time I got my modlist for DLC7 fixed DLC8 was out, and it's looking like DLC9 will be out before I can fix the current one.

My first touch of BT was Mechwarrior 3 when i was a kid. Then there was mech commander 2 and recently HBS:s Battletech and MW5 plus the assorted DLC:S and clan games. And i like them. Plus the lore from tex (lately they are too long winded imo) and mechanical frog. Also read a couple of books. Been playing the latest DLC for MW5 (fuck the elemantals btw) one thing that i have noticed that the cutscenes are great and nice, but a little toothy on the characters. The theeth seem to be front and center. Same with the clan games cutscenes. This is maybe weird but am i the only one who pays attention to that? Anyway love the games love the lore and i wish there was introduced to this game earlier and more properly.

I do love that they've increasingly put a ton of work into the MW5 Mercs DLC cutscenes.

So someone found this on Facebook; take it with a grain of salt, but from what I understand, apparently Catalyst has burnt a lot of bridges with US manufacturers, and the Tariffs are really hurting them. They've essentially been blacklisted by everyone save Wargames Atlantic, which is why they moved manufacturing to China in the first place.

Despite making up only 13% of Clan Warriors, Smoke Jaguars have committed over 50% of war crimes against spheroids...
I bet Malvina Hazen saw that and decided to "up the ante" when she plowed through the Lyran commonwealth and the remnants of the Republic. Though funny side note she lost an entire Galaxy in Japan when the population decided that it's green turkey season

I'm wondering how they've managed to piss so many people off that they're almost completely blacklisted in the US. On the topic of force packs though I wish they offered a "build your lance" kind of thing at a bit of a markup so I can could just get the specific models I want or duplicates of the same one.

Been out of the loop for a while regarding this. But is mechwarrior living legends 2 still in development or did it get shut down?
