Art is essential not only for the artist's inner demons but it also very very often acts like an emotional safety blanket for people who are going through tough times.
Sometimes, that one song can hit you in just the right way and stop you from doing something irreversible.
It can help you get some clarity, some perspective, a point of view that you or any of the people you know could come up with.
Or it can just hit you with the right melody and make you smile for the 1st time in years.
I legit think that without art, people would lose their minds completely a long time ago.

The main issue with art is that, in many cases, isn't a real job. Artists that treat it like a real job get so detached from normies and reality that their art ends up suffering as a result, as their intended audience shifts from people to artists and pretentious IMDB critics.
That isn't to say that art can never be a job. I just want to complain about the people who have no talent/vision but think highly of their art and go to art school/waste their life away doing nothing but creating garbage instead of doing something with their life because they either have rich parents or are bad with money.
