Big mouth is a lot more blatantly sexual then south park with an uncomfortable obsession with kids having sex, being gay, or being trans. On top of stuff like kids fucking pillows. A show about underage characters being tourtured is in my opinion worse then anything big mouth did, but western media still has an issue with child sexualization.

Another day, another reason for me to welcome my country being wiped off the face of the earth 
I wouldn't say I'm an anime fan as a whole- I'm a massive Ghibli fan and I enjoy Junji Ito's manga. Even though I studied animation I struggle to remember the last actual anime I watched. Most of the time when I watch anime I spend too much time autistically looking at the actual quality of the animation itself, which ruins it since most anime these days is littered with 3D model CGI to cut time and all I see are the places where the animation has been streamlined to cut corners. That's the problem when you go study something for a degree I guess.
I do have a few japanese friends who I spoke to about the whole loli/shota shitshow about a while back. They said the majority of japanese people don't even watch anime on the regular, those that are 'otaku' are viewed as a little strange. Most people only just about know that hentai exists, they don't consume it and just stick to your average everyday porn like the rest of the world. Loli and Shota are even more out there- people either don't know what it is or use "lolicon" as a synonym for pedophile.
The only thing I have learned from having friends from that area of the world is the whole schoolgirl fetish is pretty fucking huge (I say this cause this is a thing in Korea too, probably China as well but I don't really have any chinese friends). I had to explain how it's not really a thing over here in the west, and if anyone does get a stiffy thinking of that kind of stuff they keep it fucking quiet cause it's seen as super creepy. It's really normalised in asia, more so than like teacher student roleplay shit. Someone said to me once people tell their friends to keep their uniforms from school when they graduate because it will save the money later when they get a boyfriend.
Obviously that's kinda a slippery slope- if you're into school girl uniforms that's one thing, but is it the clothes or the kid that's wearing them

This is something I think a lot of weebs and internet people don't understand about Japan. Even people who have a gaming computer are seen as weird freaks, because in Japan "playing games on the computer" is basically synonymous with wanking it to visual novels, and that's something only freaks do. Japanese tend to bully these people hard, just like we do.
That it exploded in popularity and openness in America is probably due to our high levels of degeneracy and the fact that America is more of an always-online society. Japan is practically still stuck in Web 1.0 with social media just taking off big in the last decade or so.

Y'know I had this show recommended to me by an acquaintance of mine a while ago. I never watched it, just put it in my backlog that piles up since finding the actual time to sit and watch a half hour piece of media and giving it my full attention is the most tedious thing I could do.

After watching this clip, I am filled with disgust, and clarity regarding the motives of the individual who passed that recommendation on to me. Extreme clarity.
