I think the manga should remain dead with the author.

While i agree with you and the last chapter was a rather satisfying end to me, i am also curious what direction the new team takes and if they can live up to the legacy left by the original author. I am worried however it will loose its dark atmosphere and become a happy go lucky travel the world fantasy manga, even the original author has lost some of that in his later chapters. I miss the gore, cannibalism, rape, torture and misery.....and Shierke slapping Isidro.

Eh, while I do have some trust that this team can do it justice, I still feel the last chapter Miura did was a satisfactory enough ending, especially from the overall perspective of the story.

Then there's the creative side of me that would be unfathomably pissed if someone tried to finish my work after my passing. There's just something about that that really doesn't sit right with me. A bit like parading a corpse around I suppose.

I'm pretty confident considering Mori was pretty much Miura's BFF and actually knows how the story ends. The message struck me as pretty sincere. I think they're going into this with strictly the best of intentions and I can't be scornful of that. I hate the idea of mindlessly consooooming product, but in this case, they have my goodwill. I feel like it's more bittersweet than anything else.

The fact that it took a year+ to negotiate and announce this is a good sign. It’s being continued by the people who have worked with Miura and Berserk for a long-ass time, were specifically trained to draw in his art style, and are being left with a pretty clear outline of how the story should go on and end. It’s literally the best-case scenario you could possibly hope for for a posthumous continuation.

It also helps that Berserk isn’t THAT complicated of a story. It’s not like Game of Thrones where it has a dozen plot threads that all need to somehow tie into the final climax.

I don't know how to feel about it. On one hand Miura didn't leave much of a story behind, on the other one of his close friends will oversee the work and Miura has been training the assistants for a while for this. I am pretty sure Gaga knows that the next chapter will be a make or break, especially considering where it was left off.

This will be left with mixed feelings no matter how much we talk about it. If Mori can at least bring solace to both Dr. Miura and his apprentices, while treat the remaining story with the fans in mind, then I no doubt for sure that at it will at least bring closure to how the original creator wanted his creation to be shared by everyone.

Either way, being optimistic is the key.

If it was what Miura wanted then I'm fine with them continuing it.

I honestly have a good bit of respect for them continuing it. Cause the pressure is gonna be insane and fucking up Berserk would follow you forever..... Especially in the Japanese manga industry.

So, good luck to Mori and the team. Pulling for them and feeling somewhat hopeful with that statement they released.

If it's Kouji Mori it's probably gonna be faithful. They've been best friends since they were kids, he even lived with Miura and his family when his home life wasn't going well. In fact while the other guys in the Band of the Hawk were based on random friends from high school and college, Griffith and Guts were both different combinations of Miura and Mori themselves at the time. Mori has a unique connection to both Miura and the series. Studio Gaga trained under Miura for years, even specifically to work independent of him. I wish they had more rough drafts but I'm hopeful.
