What is bugging me is that it's not even June yet and all these products and garbage are coming out. This is not a holiday you need to prepare for like Christmas, and even Christmas gets started in stores sometimes before Halloween is even over, it's just a show of patting yourself on the back for a whole insufferable month.
This is actually what pisses me off about all these awareness months. Important holidays we know are a day or so long depending on your culture. People prepare for them before the day but the day itself we know is the special one. Black history month and everything else do not deserve a full goddamn month of observation.

It's literally a fucking lyrics slap of a military march song that became popular amongst childrens media. Looking up the original there's conflicting sources. By "conflicting sources" I mean there's a bunch of shit showing it as a civil war marching anthem made into a popular childrens song but then like one or 2 sources go "ThE FiRST ApPERANCe WAs BaRnEy aND FriEnDS iN 1990!" The original was titled "when johnny comes marching home" and it uses the word "gay" in the old happy meaning way rather than slang/current year politics way. a variant comparing soldiers to Ants exists and it's got mildly existential lyrics rather than the optimistic sounding ones. That variant was the one thats most used in a shitload of media ranging from barney to ANTZ where in the latter of which it's used in a literal war scene where the main character's ant bro in arms gets decapitated and fucking dies.

Linked the ANTZ version of the ant based variant song though it cuts out some bits to fit dialogue because it's fucking cinematic as hell

EDIT: Deeper Digging it goes further back to a depressing war based folk song from the Irish called "Johnny I hardly knew ye"

My gay ass loves rainbows (always have), but all the pride stuff is so ridiculous to me. As someone else said, gay pride month merch didn’t explode until same sex marriage was legal nationwide. It’s just a clear money grab.

I also find the progress and Philly pride flags not only ugly but so exclusive. The Baker flags were aesthetically pleasing and inclusive enough. Hell, the last nine stripe Baker flag has a lavender stripe for diversity in the community. My white butt would be torn apart as waycist for using a flag with black and brown stripes representing pee oh cee. The progress flag implies I’m a gay black tranny, when I’m only one of those three things. Symbolism matters, yo. I wish I could buy rainbow stuff without being automatically gay. I just like rainbows, dammit.
