Better Call Saul

I feel like I need to do a rewatch of the first 5 season before season 6 comes out. While I remember things pretty decently, its all been spread out over so long that I feel like I'd get alot out of watching everything freshly again.

I did this recently (Linder hadn't watched it yet either which also helped!). It was pretty ace.

I've done this for every single season of BCS and highly recommend it. Me and my Dad have been fans of the franchise since season 1 of Breaking Bad aired and we always did a rewatch before the next season of that aired, so it's become a sort of tradition, but both series really benefit from a second viewing. Lots of foreshadowing etc

For some reason (probably because it's when the previous season started) I thought this was starting up at the end of the month but then found out that they won't even begin shooting the season until March, which means a likely 2022 release date.

Did anyone else catch that, several times during season 5, when Kim was doing underhanded shit, the background OST was a variant of The Long Walk Alone from Breaking Bad? AKA Heisenberg's Theme. Here's a link to the track itself, maybe someone else noticed. If not, I'll rewatch the most recent season and make clips.
Anyway, if I'm correct and they did reuse The Long Walk Alone (which they definitely did since I'm an OST geek), it can only mean that Kim's going to break bad in her own way. And given the next season is the final one, this is really the only possible out for the character - her getting fedded for sus shit - besides killing her off (which is the obvious out but doesn't seem very "Vince".

EDIT: This scene features it towards the end, but it's apparent in other scenes around and after this point in the season.
Honestly, I'm wondering if she's playing a long con? We know Saul likely isn't going to get to keep the money from Sandpiper and we know he's not going to be married to her come BB time, so what if her plan was to divorce Jimmy, take the Sandpiper money, and then go somewhere else to do that "High price lawyers for pro-bono clients" set up she mentioned at the end of season five? She sues him for a majority of the settlement, points out his Cartel connections that she could leak to the bar association, which is way worse than anything she's done, and forces him to hand over most of the money, the rest of which he uses to set up his practice as we've seen it.

Probably won't happen since it's way more ruthless than we've seen Kim do so far, but to me it's a good way to end things, especially since Kim is the last piece of Jimmy left and if she betrays him, that'd destroy James McGill completely, leaving only Saul Goodman.

What if the reason we don't see Kim in Breaking Bad is because she became Walter White?

I don't see Kim doing that. I could see her doing something that ruthless, but not to Jimmy. She's surprised me in the past though. I hope she doesn't end up dead. I hope Nacho doesn't either but his odds aren't looking great.

I see Kims gas about her resentment towards Howard exploding in a way that, regardless of outcome, tears Jimmy away from her and possibly for good, unless the flash-forward suggests they cross paths again. I'm going to count on a mutually assured destruction but not get into too many possibilities.

I was just kidding, I don't actually think that Kim will become Walter White... But she will probably become Jesse Pinkman. It makes sense if you don't think about it.

I think the major difference between BB and BCS as character studies is in BB, we see someone who was always a terrible person, but never had the opportunity or ambition to express it, actually finally fully realize himself as a person. A really terrible person.

You only see this on a second viewing (well at least if you are a dense motherfucker like I am). Remember the scene where he turns down money to treat his cancer from his former Gray Matter associates, who we're led to believe ripped him off (he actually just tard raged and quit for no legitimate reason), and he seemed somewhat noble for refusing and insisting on handling it himself?

In BCS, to the contrary, we're introduced to a character we're already familiar with as a complete bastard, who almost appears as if he could have hatched out of an egg that way, and we see how while he started out deeply flawed, he struggled not to be a bad person, and slowly, despite his efforts, sank down into the failure of evil.

Odenkirk has a heart attack, though presumably will survive it. Everyone was freaking the fuck out because like 20 hours went from it happening to this update.

Bob Odenkirk is in stable condition at a New Mexico hospital Wednesday, a day after suffering a heart attack while in production on the sixth and final season of AMC’s Better Call Saul.

“We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart-related incident,” reps for the actor said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. “He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”

The 58-year-old star of the Breaking Bad prequel series collapsed on the Albuquerque, New Mexico, set Tuesday. Crewmembers immediately surrounded him and called an ambulance.

Sources say production was a little more than halfway done on the final season at the time of Odenkirk’s heart attack. Production remained halted Wednesday as everyone involved with the series remains focused on Odenkirk’s health. It’s unclear how long production will remain down. Reps for both AMC and producers Sony Pictures Television have yet to comment.

“He’s going to be okay,” tweeted Bob’s son, Nate Odenkirk, on Wednesday afternoon.

Odenkirk is a four-time Emmy nominee for his role as slimy lawyer Saul Goodman, a role he originated on AMC’s Emmy-winning drama Breaking Bad. He reprises the role and leads the call sheet on prequel spinoff Better Call Saul. Saul, which films at the same New Mexico hub as Breaking Bad, was in production on its sixth and final season, which was originally slated to premiere this year before pandemic-related delays pushed it to a likely 2022 premiere.

Breaking Bad, and now Saul, helped define AMC as a network. The franchise, from exec producers Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, remains among the most valued properties at Sony Television. Odenkirk, like Gilligan and Gould, also has his own producing deal with Sony and is beloved by the studio’s Culver City-based TV execs.

Odenkirk recently announced he was penning a memoir about his career, spanning time on Saturday Night Live to Saul, which is also expected in 2022. He recently earned strong reviews for his lead role in Universal feature Nobody, telling THR about the two years of fitness training and fight choreography he underwent as he prepared to film the action film.

Colleagues past and present have sent well-wishes to Odenkirk via social media, with Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul and former Saul star Michael McKean among those voicing support. “Last night our dear Bob was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed on stage. Send all your positive energy and love to him and his family — let’s hope to have him back as soon as possible,” Saul co-star Michael Mando posted Wednesday.

Fucking Hell.

So what do we reckon caused it? Nobody's training regime or did Bob go full Howard Beale?
