Better Call Saul

The montage of Gus being paranoid was literally a waste of time because anyone with a brain knows that Gus will not die. There is no tension. None at all. These idiots talking about how nerve-racking it was are blind. Show more of Kaylee using her telescope. But BB/BCS is like the Emperor's New Clothes for its fandom. BB have dumber fans that Star Wars in that they refuse to even disown Rian Johnson and think that the 'Fly' episode is visionary genius level work so arguing with them is pointless.

I'm glad someone else hates that episode.
Fly is infamously considered the worst episode of the series. They like Rian because he did Ozymandias.

Well, I like that. It's why it surprised me to see Johnson do such an absolutely embarrassing shit job on SW. It's a bottle episode and that usually indicates a budget shortfall rather than deliberately fucking up the show.

Also he didn't actually write Ozymandias. Moira Walley-Beckett did. (Of course she also wrote "Fly" come to think of it.)

And actually there are some perverts who are huge fans of "Fly."

tbh I like Fly too, but it's not a huge shock why it's widely considered a dud as it's just an inferior version of 4 Days Out.

Sorry to, uh, interrupt.. this... But I brought you a gift. Your brother and I, we always had a meeting with "Mr. Macallan" after a BIG victory. Usually some brilliant summation by Chuck... that goes without saying. So this... this is for you. You earned it. You won, I get it. Of course you... you both have to play it this way. You're both so very good at it. I was wondering that too. What it's all about. I mean, what do you tell yourselves? What justification makes it okay? "Howard's such an asshole that he deserves it"? So... ...what is it? I sided with Chuck too often? I took away your office, put you in doc review? All of the above? Howard's daddy helped him get to the top, but you both had to struggle. "Howie has so much, and we have so little, let's take him down a peg or two"? What allows you to do this to me? Because this isn't just a prank. No. This goes beyond throwing bowling balls on my car. This took planning. Coordination. I mean, how many weeks? O-Or was it months? It couldn't have been easy. So, tell me... why? Why go through this elaborate plot just to burn me to the ground? Yeah, sure The Sandpiper settlement? HHM's share will be substantial, absolutely. Even though I humiliated myself. And my clients and peers will whisper that Howard Hamlin's a drug addict... You're right. I've worked my way through worse. Debt. Depression. My marriage falling apart. Oh, yeah. I've been sleeping in the guest house for the better part of a year. Ah, just one more thing good ol' Howard has to work through. But, yes, I will land on my feet. I will be okay. But you? Far from it.

Good comparison, because 4 Days Out got us their first major cook, they were actually in danger (largely thanks to Jesse buying that shitheap RV), they still bonded over it, and there were consequences to Walt's disappearance.

There was really no danger in Fly, Walt was just sperging out, long after we'd already established he's like that.

I did actually like some of the dialogue between Jesse and Walt but almost all of it could have been in other episodes.

Fly still filters people to this day I see. Good stuff.

Seems to me like this season is shot a lot differently than previous. I'm not sure if I like it or not, it's just screwing with me, probably because I binged the previous ones before it to remember what happened.
I think they're realizing the BB universe is coming to an end and want to get as many intricate shots and other fancy footwork in as possible (like the opening tracking shot where they literally hired a ballet troupe to play the movers chucking Saul's shit and choreographed every step to be along with the music).

It’s because Vince is back for the final season (he hasn’t really been involved since season 2 iirc), so the cinematography is a lot more like Breaking Bad than previous seasons of BCS.

idk, sometimes I really like Vince’s camera direction, other times it seems like he’s jerking himself off. The timelapse scene of Mike digging in the desert in BB was amazing as were some of the strange Dutch angles he uses, but I feel like his stuff in BCS (the movers, the cold open of the instrument being made) aren’t really doing it for me.
