Business Big Tech Layoffs Megathread - Techbros... we got too cocky...

Since my previous thread kinda-sorta turned into a soft megathread, and the tech layoffs will continue until morale improves, I think it's better to group them all together.

For those who want a QRD:

Just this week we've had these going on:

But it's not just Big Tech, the vidya industry is also cleaning house bigly:

All in all, rough seas ahead for the techbros.

Low quality bait.
tech, especially big tech, is like ground zero for anyone not being into the "current thing" cult getting pushed out and being replaced by true believers. autismos (including furries) are the bread and butter of computer tech and they've all been brainrotted by tranny propaganda and porn addictions. there is a reason Total Tranny Death and Total Tech Death share the same initials

anything that's involved with tech has been rotted from the inside out, not from the top down like you claim, and needs to collapse

Let me guess, this is all stuff you've read online or other people have told you and you've never once worked within the tech industry right?

You probably also only think of FAANG when you think of tech, not the tens of thousands of companies across the world that make up the tech industry.

It's rich for some spergy retard on A&N to call anyone else an autismo lmao.

no, i think of the soyboys, queers, and handmaidens that have flooded the tech sector in the last decade and have been shoving code of conduct documents into every open source project/web service and fagging up both my work and personal life

their jobs only existed because of easy DIE money and because they flew under the radar enough that people weren't aware of how much trouble they cause. now that the easy money has dried up and people are figuring out that any connection to modern day LGBT is a massive red flag their job prospects are coming to an end

Yes and the Internet *barely* operates as it is. A month ago a bunch of trannies DDOS'd down an entire fucking domain registrar. BGP is broken and MITM'd on an almost weekly basis. If I pull up the news feed on my phone right now, there will be at least two articles about some company, hospital or government has been broken into.

IT in 2024 are Techpriests spraying anointed oils on the switch stack whilst praying to the venerable Eelawn Moosk, Omnissiah of the Internet, in the hopes their configurations don't introduce a supernetting black hole.

So I was right, no real experience in the tech industry and just repeating shit you hear elsewhere. I agree CoCs are retarded, but what actual impact have they had on the software you use?

Networking and computing in generally is really, really complicated no matter what the NodeJS kiddies will try and claim. Frankly though I'm surprised the internet let alone anything else works half as well as it does too.

Software bugs happen and guess what? Unless they're severe most companies could not care less. There's no money in fixing bugs or properly testing shit, so they refuse to invest in those resources. A developer who wants to do things right, fix tech debt, and verify software correctness is going to be broken down by management in short order because that stuff doesn't boost management's numbers or get them promotions. If you're in IT you know exactly how shit this kind of thing gets.

I know a whole bunch of people in the bay area and seattle that were laid off from google early last year that are still unemployed.
Many of these are very experienced swe with >10 years of experience.

X, the special projects group at google, had some layoffs last week but everyone that remained were basically told "find a market fit for the project or else". So more layoffs coming there. I expect all ox X development labs to be shuttered quite soon.

It is so fucking bad that people that had borderline TDS spontaneously tell me they will vote for Trump. No question, no hesitation, they will 100% vote for trump.
That is how bad it is. People that were reeeeing about lgbt deathcamps and not my president are now openly saying they will vote for him.

Brace position: Bidenomics seems to hit the tech sector full force this year.

forced inclusivity is directly related to free speech sites like these being shut down because of feelings and all of the internet suffering because of retarded, degenerate weirdos. please take two minutes and use the thinking, male part of your brain that doesn't want to get railed by 14 werewolves and connect the dots. just because the terrible economy we're in is affecting the only job market furries can be employed in other than fast food doesn't mean it isn't good and deserved

Lmao, "more nimble." Ebay is telling its (now ex-)employees they were a burden. :story:

I wanna answer just for the sake of sperging: functionally there is no impact, but gay CoCs tend to drive away developers I trust, attract developers I don't trust (trannies) and unnecessarily shift the spotlight from software quality to politisperging. Every project with a gay CoC by definition has at least one "contributor" who thought wasting time on that stupid shit was a great idea and super helpful, which should be alarming to any user.

We had a multimillion dollar project to remove every instance of "white box," "black box," blacklist," "master/slave," "big endian," and so on from our code and documentation. Supposedly, this language was preventing niggers from coding at our company, because when a nigger sees that an opaque object you can't see inside of is called "black," it triggers a genetic memory of the time his great great great great grandpappy got buckbroken so hard he was shitting blood for the next three days, and he curls up in a ball and starts crying and wheezing until somebody makes it go away. We wasted a lot of money and time, but when it was all done, the number of niggers capable of mastering complex C++ idioms remained what it always is and always will be, zero, because reasoning your way through the unqualified name lookup exceptions in ADL is not something you can do with an 87 IQ.

So aside from wasting a week of my time, I now have to unlearn technical language and catch myself from using terms like "big endian," which has been a fucking technical term I have used regularly for decades, because some 23-year-old pinkhaired faggot said it offends niggers, and if I do slip up, I can get written up.

Cunts.

It's a legitimate question. As I said CoCs are retarded nonsense, but there's been much wailing and gnashing of teeth over them while seemingly nothing meaningful has changed on that front. They are preformative, nothing more.

The single most annoying thing IMO that's happened in recent years are the BS name changes you mentioned, but again did you get a say in that? Nope. Did I get a say in that? Nope. A couple of people (almost literally a couple) bitched and suddenly orders came down from the top, now I have to correct master to main every time I use git.

A stupid number of projects had PRs to add a CoC opened by someone who had never contributed before. Any sign of disagreement and the maintainers got bullied by the same group of people.

The real question is how many projects actually enforce their CoCs and how many just added them to shut up some of the most annoying people on planet earth?

In a perfect would all projects would have a BDFL like Theo.

Nigga have you been living under a rock? No amount of appeasement will ever shut the trannies up. Ever. Zilch. It does not work. You can willingly have yourself drawn and quartered and nailed to a cross at their request and they will not be satisfied because now that you're dead you can no longer call them a pwetty pwincess like they want. This is common knowledge you should be familiar with.

Anyway this is off topic.

Of course not, but who actually wants to deal with the backlash from opposing them? Certainly not the maintainer who's literally doing it for free.

We really should create just an entire tech rant/debate topic if it doesn't exist .

I don't think I have seen CoCs being used to stop bad behaviour.

All projects I have been part of, from very large to very small, all have an unwritten "don't be an asshole" rule. And if you are an asshole people will stop interacting with you, people will stop reviewing or approving your pull requests and no one will respond to you on the mailinglist. There is zero need for a CoC to enforce the "don't be an asshole to your peers".

Only times I have seen CoC "enforcement" is not to correct behavior but to punish people. CoC's are all about being a weapon to punish people with wrongthink and the adoption of a weaponized coc can often make the project more toxic.

These faggots also push the CoC by saying that the lack of a CoC is pushing away all these potential contributors that don't feel "safe" to join the project because of a lack of a CoC. I would like to see a study on how many people fall into the category "I am an actual contributor, I did not feel safe without a CoC and this is why I delayed joining the project until a CoC was in place." I belive the number of people that matches that is ZERO.
