Biggest bullshit in a video game

Why continue to have challenges for Big Team Battle if they know it doesn't work? And ties should count as wins.
There's apparently going to be a hotfix tomorrow that should address the BTB connection issues.

That doesn't excuse them making those challenges in the weeks prior, but this might soon be rectified.

The annoying thing about Greedfall on Extreme is getting one-shotted while doing dick damage in the tutorial where resources are scarce and stats are low. I get that De Sardet is a diplomat, but Extreme really highlights just how clunky and awkward the combat is. When the goal of the early game is to avoid combat until quest rewards level you up, it really makes the game not very interactive.

I blame Dark Souls for this attitude of git gud, enemies hit like a truck and you hit like a bug.
Invest into Guns, Guns are OP from start to finish, Even on extreme, guns are far better than the base swords or magic and once you've maxed out guns and can use rifles nothing can stop you. Just don't get hit

Oh also I fucking hate the random encounters in Yakuza 3, 4, and 5. It is absolutely ridiculous that you can't take three steps without having to fight. Good luck avoiding them in narrow places on the map!

If you hated that don't play Yakuza Like a Dragon, your head will explode.

Yakuza Like A Dragon has basically ensured I will never play another Yakuza game ever again. Even with a trainer and speedhacks it was an absolute fucking shitstorm of grind and annoyance, I couldn't imagine how awful it'd have been in real time.

I'm surprized Yakuza hasn't reached Kojima status.

It has the perfect amount of bullshit and time wasting. Does it have unskippable cutscenes?

I played it. I put it on hold just before you go to Sotenbori. The grind is so huge and time consuming. But there is still a lot to like.
and at least you can auto battle them

Been going through some of the stuff that was given away on Epic that I didn't get around to. Boot up Hitman 2016 and for some reason this fucking game keeps pestering me about enabling online play. Why? It's a single player game.

I have a look and apparently when it came out it was basically online only with all the features and unlocks needing an internet connection and the offline mode was completely gimped? In a single player game. What the fuck? Now, I probably have very extreme views when it come to online bullshit in single player games but this game should have been panned by every publication under the sun and the devs nailed to a cross for this kind of bullshit. From what I can see though it got a very positive reception. Ugh. The absolute shit modern gamer cattle are willing to gobble up with a smile on their face constantly reminds me why I don't play modern games anymore.

Hitman 2016 requiring online reminds me of that one time I was going to a con with friends and one of them brought his PS4 to the hotel for some local multiplayer and he was pissed about how he couldn't earn currency or whatever you get in that game, just because he didn't have an internet connection.

RE Village's second demo was also really stupid. You had to download the entire file but then you couldn't play until a specific date and time where they allowed you too (something like May 1st at midnight). You needed an online connection to the demo. That is completely saved on your hard drive. A demo. Of a single player game.

Also you could only play it for a week because they wouldn't allow you to try out the game and see if you like after it released. You also had a time limit to play the demo and you had more than enough time to do it, but you couldn't possibly know that until after you played it or if you watched someone else do it. I'm probably not alone in wanting to examine the details, immerse myself and enjoy the game but felt needlessly rushed by the timer.

Ya that's dumb but at least you can replay indefinitely. In RE Village's demo, you have a timer that shows up in the main menu indicating the time you have left. It doesn't go down when you're in the menu and when you pause the game, only when you're playing and during cutscenes. If it reaches zero, you cannot play the demo anymore. It doesn't just kick you out, it flats out prevent you from coming back. If you want to play more, you need to make a new account and download the demo again and play it while on your account. Or try a workaround by going offline and deleting specific files, hoping you're on PC and not console.

RE2 Remake did the same thing and called it "1-shot demo", although they didn't force you to be online and it wasn't limited to only a week. But they still did the time limit bullshit. The demo even come with achievements that are essentially pop-ups to tell you 5 minutes have passed every 5 minutes until the time is up (REVillage did it too). RE2's demo without timer was eventually made available later. Maybe they realized it was dumb. RE3 Remake's demo wasn't timed so you would think they learned from their mistake. Then RE Village proves you wrong and start the timer again, plus the online bullshit. They didn't release a timer-less demo as of yet.

Apparently it's because the original RE2 had a timed demo back in the day. Fair enough I guess, but the demo disc didn't become a brick after one fucking playthrough.

It's been said before and it's not exactly part of the actual gameplay but file sizes. Was downloading the Tomb Raider games after epic gave them away recently and thought shit these are massive, the latest one is 60 GB or something.

Thought let's install some other stuff while I'm at it. NBA 2K21 - 120 GB download. What the actual fuck? For a basketball game? Are they including high res textures for every single player's sweaty balls in the game install or something.

Isn't that the point of Yakuza? Millling around the red light district, playing games and talking to people. You expect the story to be told through a lot of dialog. They don't try to hide it.

Conspiracy theory time:
If Game A's file is huge that means that they don't have to waste dev time on compression and removing junk files and if Game A takes up more space on your console HD it means you might have to delete Game B and Game C to install it. And if you delete those other games from your HD you're more likely to be playing Game A because you don't want to have to reinstall Game B or C.

The massive file sizes are intentional.

This is my theory.

A lot of studios have top management who are old who have grown to become technologically inept, hell maybe they always were inept. During development of a game the project lead will say to his boss "And we've put so much work into this game! The file size is 120 GB!" and the old manager will shake his head and say "Impressive!"

I mean these things did have a psychological effect on gamers. If you're old/retro enough to remember the PS1 era you probably saw Final Fantasy 8 with it's bigger case hold not two but FOUR CD-ROMs. More CDs = Bigger and therefore more Epic of a Video Game.

With that said file sizes are bigger because higher resolution textures are coming with them now.
