Biggest bullshit in a video game

"Lionel Starkweather" is just a fat pervert in a Hawaiian shirt. He isn't smart or calculating or charismatic, he's just a weird creepy porn director.
Starkweather is lowkey Harvey Weinstein confirmed.

I hate it in Rockstar games when random passersby will go out of their way to pick a fight with you for no reason.

Then the authorities go after *you*.
When I just entered a town in RDR2 and someone was thrown out the saloon window and the fight continued outside in the dirt. Big circle of people form around them, lawmen included. The fight reaches a point where one guy is strangling the other to death and no one is doing anything. I punch the strangler once. Everyone including the guy being strangled starts panicking and calling me a madman. Lawman calls me out and shoot the back of my skull.

10/10 game.

I once somehow managed to aggro an alligator into chasing me into the city limits. I finally was able to kill the thing, at which point Saint Denis's finest painted the the walls with my brains.

Physical Skills costing HP in SMT games.

If the PC dying makes the whole party wipe why make it so a decent end game attack takes 35% of your HP everytime you use it?
Because fuck you, that's why!
I would assume it's to represent the exertion of the skill, since you're not calling on some otherworldly power to do it. It's still kind of crap.

I'm shooting lasers out my eyes or summoning magma to throw at a fucker and it still costs a ton of HP, the worst part is you basicly HAVE to go Physical Demi-Fiend in SMT III to get the true ending otherwise you're shit out of luck getting the true ending.

That's even dumber. Perfectly good MP bar, but noooooo.

Demifiends MP bar is for Fog Breath and War Cry exclusively, as well as Tornado in early/midgame

I like the Phys costing HP, it means demons with poor magic (and therefore low MP caps) can still be able to use skills in fights
Also in general, Phys is stronger than magic thanks to crits so it having more of a drawback is good balance

The system is definitely retarded. I do remember getting into a brawl with some guy in Valentine when a lawman showed up and said "I'll just let you two sort it out" and watched. After I knocked the guy out the lawman said "Now move along now" and walked away, so maybe the game just doesn't like you interfering with a AI started fight?

I disagree, up untill the final few dungeons Magic is superior, the ability to consistantly gain extra turns is something that helps, but in later dungeons were enemies lack weaknesses it's simply just better the Unga-Bunga charge, spiral viper.

You don't really HAVE to but that fight goes slow as shit without Focus+Pierce+Freikugel on the MC and the longer you spend on the phase where he starts spamming Root of All Evil the greater chance you're going to die.

I did it but, like...no. I do not recommend it.

At least the newest release gave Dante pierce and there's always been the Girimekhala with it the you can pass the skill along to something worth wile.

Phys with crits in mind is better for more pressturns in general though as like 90% or more of encounters can be critted, while you'd need to figure out the enemy weaknesses first with Magic. So you're better off having one good spell like Tornado then delegating magic to your party as then you can cover more bases while saving MP in areas where you might be going quite a while without a fountain

Magic is far from useless but as far as building a single character in a vacuum goes, Phys is always better

If you fuck around with the Girimekhala a bit you can eventually get Pierce onto Surt.

It's the most hilariously overpowered thing in the game.

This is why I fucking groan when people talk about the "detail" in Rockstar games.

They can take the time to record dialogue of the old lady reacting to you spooking her donkey, killing her donkey, killer her children, not killing her children, etc. etc. etc.

But then you have basic gameplay jank where police act inconsistent and shit because you dared to interfere with the scripted scene and color outside the lines.

And people wonder why I rail so hard on the bullshit that causes these games to take 5+ years to make. Rockstar Games were infinitely better when they weren't so focused on the presentation.

I'm reminded of a video I saw of someone being able to knock little Jack off a cliff and the sound he makes when he hit was a grown ass man, his balled dropped before he hit the ground below it would seem.

The worst is that this wasn't the case in first game. NPCs usually didn't start shit unless you did, or had extremely low honor. They were either indifferent, or outright friendly if that wasn't the case.

I've mentioned this several times before, but it kills me that all this was done mostly so the plot of RDR1 still happens and makes sense, and it doesn't even do that, because all the added details, and new characters ended up causing a fuckton inconsistencies, and plotholes.

On that note, I hate how Rockstar can program the horses to have ball physics, but not put any Trapper locations in the Grizzlies where all the big game is so you have to trek back down the entire mountain every time you make a decent kill. Same thing for them not putting one anywhere in New Austin.

...nothing I talked about has anything to do with any of that. Rockstar games over reliance on scripted sequences in their game worlds has been a thing since GTA IV at least.

And I still don't understand how you don't get that Sadie, Charles, Mary Beth, Pearson and Tilly weren't wanted by the government or running outlaw groups so they weren't hunted down.
