Credible threats aren't funny, they don't do anything for anyone, and they make our lives worse by attracting negative attention. Free speech is one thing, but the spirit of the concept is to encourage free flow of ideas. You should be able to freely discuss the merits of communism or fascism or whatever because the discussion encourages thought. "I was only pretending to be retarded" does not.

It's like the saying goes: freedom of speech doesn't necessarily equate to freedom from consequences.

For someone like Dear Leader, he can take those consequences head-on and for much smaller threats, he can tackle them head-on, tell them to fuck off, and usually win. Cuz like, the fuck is New Zealand gonna do? It's New Zealand. Not so much when a politsperg threatens to jokingly shoot up a specific place where tensions are already reaching a boiling point, and the largest and most powerful country on Earth and its government gets involved on your forum. That's a whole different beast.

I understand A&N/Happenings have the most viewer engagement on the site by a wide margin, but it's also home to some of the absolute worst posters.

Seconded, and I say this as someone who only really uses those forums now and only barely keeps up on previously frequented the Lolcow threads anymore, either due to tedium of people just talking about the same shit over and over, or due to inactivity from either the lolcow themselves or posters who didn't want to deal with A&N posters flooding in and shitting up threads. Which is sad, because those threads used to be fun to read. Some still are, but all that just completely ruined that experience for me. That said, dividing the site even more could be a completely awful idea for engagement at a time when Null only just started getting stable, but hey: if the site's going down in a blaze of glory anyway...

Heeeeeee... fuck them, if they get the banhammer they get the banhammer, anybody that draws the attention of something like the FBI to our little corner of the net certainly deserves it. I get that politics are a fountain of milk but the purpose of this place was never to tard about it, we have more important things to tard about like "when Barb is going to croak?".

If King Terry taught us one thing it's that you don't mess with three letter agencies. Null did the right thing cooperating with them and dropping the banhammer.

@Null Just git rid of A&H altogether at this point. They have proven time and again they are ungrateful guests, and have staunchly refused to stop shitting in the streets no matter how often they are told not to. This is a place that should be comfy, where people talk about random autism, weird people, and have off topic discussions in the appropriate boards. But with the influx of political spergs, every thread now has some dumb son of a bitch wandering in talking about how the sight of BBC makes him angry/the Jews are the problem/some tepid comment about rainbow people. It is really tiresome, and I think that you have done more than should be expected at this point. The wild west days of the internet are over, and it is unreasonable for these selfish spergs to insist you light yourself on fire so they can ruin this place and move on to the next website to repeat the process. I say do away with them, and judging by the tone of this thread I do not think anyone will miss them when they are gone.

I agree with the new rules put down here, and actually my one criticism of Null here is that they probably should have been implemented a lot sooner. I know nobody believes me when I say this, but A&N is about 90% people spouting (sometimes Reddit-tier, admittedly) jokes and opinions on whatever Florida Man article made the rounds that week. Happenings is a lot more prone to hysteria but I guess the riots and shit will do that to people.

Also portraying Kekistan as a street-shitting third world country is the perfect way to sum up the situation.

All of this because some shitheads are not capable of distinguishing between laughing at idiots and saying stuff that in this day and age can be taken as a threat and land both you and your host into hot water.

It's not hard. It's like going to the bar with your drinking buddies. Make all the stupid jokes you want and maybe even the bar owner laughs with you.
Start repeatedly making threats, or "jokes" that can pass as threats, and don't be surprised if not only your buddies stop laughing with you, but the owner doesn't allow you inside anymore.

Tl;dr get a fucking hang of what you say. You aren't non traceable as you think you are.

I'm pretty new to this forum but as some who religiously browsed 4chan for the last 15 or so years I know damn well how it feels to watch people come in and have a complete disregard for the culture of the site and how it can so easily crumble and turn the community into a zombie state if not worse so I always try to keep aware of where I stand and what I know when joining new communities.

I'm a free speech extremist, I think anything should be fair game but at the same time "I'm going to kill some niggers tomorrow at this address" isn't a free speech thing, there is no belief or value being expressed, it's just an admission of going to commit violence. At this point I've probably seen about every Mad at the Internet and despite the fact Null probably hates me cause I'm very pro-loli, I think he's a pretty down to earth guy who has put a lot into this site and it's really cringe to see people giving him shit for this because not only does he not deserve it, even for people who want absolutely ANYTHING to be said it's counter productive, you make people not like you or want to side with you, it's like how SJWs sometimes may have a reasonable position but are just such unlikable twats you don't want to give them shit.
