Initially I found much of this tiresome, but scrolling through revealed a level of moralizing passion which piqued my interest. One fellow was bragging elsewhere about “running these people out of chat” as though he was on some crusade, but was covering it well with ironic internet insults. It seems to me possible that, in addition to earnest relief from some users that more obsessive political rantings are being done away with, there is a contingent that is merely doing a victory lap at the expense of people they disagree with.

if this is correct, the site has politics further ingrained in its culture than can be addressed with the destruction of one subforum.

it is possible also that this is just standard online community gatekeeping which is common to all forums, and is very gay. It is probably good for the longevity of the community, but it makes you become necessarily retarded, as in the post Im responding too where you make a series of ignorant assumptions about me, like a senile old man who can only refer to the three memories from his youth his rotting brain can still conjure up.

Either way as I said I find it interesting, and look forward to seeing how it all plays out.

The tone of your post and relative new account status gave you the appearance of one of /pol refugees who came over here and started flinging their shit everywhere, only to whine about 'gatekeeping' when asked to clean up their mess.

If this does not include you then I do apologize, but you might consider reeling in your smug a bit if you don't want to be mistaken for the cancer in the future.

lol I don't care if you mistake me for some caricature you're obsessed with, I was just pointing out how silly and presumptuous you were being. But maybe thats being petty and so I will also apologize. I hope all the kiwis acting in good faith get to keep their community precisely as they desire it.

Ain't it he truth, I still don't know why this place even allows half the stuff it does. It's nothing but bad news and ruins the experience for a lot of other users.

The original thread where this all started devolved into such a mess of shitflinging from both sides, where it became hard to find actual news, that I came to the realization none of it was fun or interesting anymore and just stopped going. At least browsing through the various lolcow or community watch threads can prove fascinating, brings back the feeling of the good ol'days of going to the circus to see what new oddities they've brought. Brings a bit of wonderment back to the world and makes you realize you're missing the good things being consumed by depressing politics all day. Call it sticking your head in the sand, but it's a lot more fun than being a 24/7 LARPing Doomer acting like the naked homeless man with his "THE END IS NEAR!" sign.
For the sake of everyone involved I hope no kiwi will be the Grinch during Christmas that can't go one day without bitching about da jews/blacks/dems/drumph/Biden/trannies/etc and ruins Christmas. If you can't put all your political sperging aside and just spend some time with your family/friends you have a serious problem. You're the reason that we can't have one nice cheerful day in this Godforsaken world. Just let people have fun and enjoy things, especially on bloody Christmas of all days. I don't care if you're left or right wing, this is a PSA for both to shut the fuck up about politics for the holiday season.

What I don't get is why anyone would be so stupid to post their plans to go on a killing spree on a public forum that thousands of people can read. Assuming you were crazy enough to go on a killing spree or try and assassinate a politician why would you post you detailed plans or announce it on a website where thousands of people can read your post, get your personal contact info, and call the cops if they think you are serious? Even if you weren't serious you'd still regret it because you'd end up a laughingstock. People would always remember you as "that idiot who wrote an elaborate manifesto as a joke, got a visit from the feds, and revealed how much of a retard he was".

We aren't raiding other sites or leading psychotic witch-hunts against our own userbase for being insufficiently right-wing, so that means we're being nice by his standards apparently.
