I didn't say it was THE cornerstone, I said it was A cornerstone, but I guess we're clearly going to keep ignoring that the initial Bunny C&C event and the fact that they make sure to showcase the Live2D memorial lobbies for new Students in the big announcement livestreams, which often include some form of fetishistic element that most people look forward to aren't actually major contributing factors to the game's reach and sustainability, especially when a lot of shitskins prove they don't actually read the story. If that were really the case, if fanservice truly were the main draw, then you would see that in promotional mateial everywhere the same way you see it with Nikke or any Hoyoverse game. There are, i agree, questionable L2D's such as Karin's, but at the same time, there are regular ones such a Hoshino and Akane. The existence of fanservice itself doesn't mean that fanservice is the cornerstone on which everything else is built on.
The "mostly uneventful and relaxed" bit goes out the window and hardly comes back once you start getting into the meat of Volume 3 (or, honestly, I argue as early as the second half of Volume 2, which starts really hitting us with the concept that these kids CAN actually fucking die). There's always some intrigue bullshit happening from that point onwards, and we're kind of conditioned to expect it after Beatrice since we get a better idea of what real threats Kivotos faces and the respective schools from that point onwards.but some people seem to like the mostly uneventful and relaxed story with funny character interactions.
