This board is for threads monitoring specific, active legal battles regarding or between lolcows or broader Internet entities that are funny.

If you have a suggestion for a thread, please write a draft in Talk to Staff with all pertinent information and documents possible. It should be a synopsis of the case and the events preceding it. The title format should be the legal case name in citation style.

All threads suggested should be for an active, extant legal case between or involving people we have a thread on. If the lawsuit itself is of massive online interest, it may be acceptable.

Would things which normally fall under pre-existing subforums count? Like when Greta's pet coolie had the deportation scare? What about hyper-litigious individuals like Sam?
 
Akilah Hughes vs Carl Benjamin needs a thread I guess, Tanya Girsh vs Andrew Anglin could use a thread, Kurt Eichenwald vs John Rivello if that hasn't been dropped yet, and idk about Maddox vs Meanieheads but making a thread and instructing the cuckpockets to dump all further lawsuit talk from the Maddox thread into it until people get the message is probably the best idea.

Each item of individual litigation should be its own thing for evaluation on its own merits by the community. For instance, Maddox v. Dick et all should be one thread, and then Dick v. Maddox in the trademark dispute should be another.

Ideally comments like "Maddox's lawsuit is the surest sign he is desperate and on verge of mental collapse" should belong to the Maddox lolcow thread, whereas paragraphs-long evaluation of documents would go here.

The audience for this board is for people curious about law and not for people just wanting to cheer for their side.

Would it have to only be battles from a legal standpoint? For example say if there is some sperglary about say (I'm just throwing a curveball here) a guy going nuts over abortion and providing very biased "facts" against another moron who is on the opposite side of the fence.

My question is this:

Could we potentially place the more accurate information here or would it have to be focused squarely on the law as opposed to general academic topics?

TL;DR given that the law is supposed to reflect moral pillars to be upheld is it inappropriate on this thread to broach it from the moral standpoint as long as laws are involved?

Yes.

There must be a plaintiff, defendant, and legal question for a thread to exist. This is an evaluation of facts in law and a person's attempts to use law to influence Internet drama. Litigation is increasingly popular for the desperate online and while this board will be very slow compared to most, I aspire to have it be a trustworthy source of opinions on real-world litigation and how that impacts the Internet.

How about Richard Carrier V FreethoughtBlogs/TheOrbit/Skepticon ?

SJW Euphorics have been plagued PLAGUED! by men acting skeevy at their conferences and holding the women down. Carrier was tots on board with the anti harassment policies, until some of the gate keepers pointed the finger at him.
Hilariously, he wrote a blog post claiming the person accusing him took his sexual advances the wrong way, then discovered that it was another woman doing the accusing.

He is now suing for loss of reputation and profit!

You don't need to get absolutely everything, you just need a firm synopsis and the actual court papers.
 
Would this just be primarily for lawsuits where at least one Lolcow is involved?

Where would be the place to post other lawsuits that might garner interest (examples being the YouTube lawsuit and the Apple lawsuit?)

Ideally at least one person of interest involved, yes. I don't think the "adpocolypse" thing is really relevant to us but I could be wrong. I don't know if excluding it would make the board too narrow.

I also just remembered, Kristi Winters is threatening to sue Bearing for suggesting it was her who gave his dox to ED, so Colbalt Cat might be appearing in two legal actions. Its just threats at the moment.

I hope he wins because he's demonstrably in the right. If you want to prop up these anti-discrimination laws and only use them against everyone else you can go fuck yourself.

Would the TWiT v. Twitter copyright lawsuit be worthy of a thread here? I think both parties qualify as lolcows:

- Twitter is.. Twitter.

- TWiT's founder Leo Laporte is someone who should've had a lolcow thread already. Just this year he managed to reveal his porn on stream (Jan '17), and ask a female if she wants a Dirty Sanchez on stream (Oct '17). Not to mention him bringing on our 3-thread favorite, Brianna Wu.
