E-Girl Deniece "Niece" Waidhofer is suing Thothub for illegally reposted content. She's also suing our good friends at Cloudflare for providing service to them, and lastly Chaturbate and BangBros for advertising on their site. Looks like Thothub.tv and its forum are currently down for "maintenance". Hoes Mad

You missed the best part - the lawsuit is alleging RICO. And this one might actually survive the routine "it's never RICO" motion to dismiss, since criminal copyright infringement is on the enumerated list of "racketeering activities". I skimmed the complaint and I don't really like how it's drafted, it rambles a bit too much for my taste. That all said, the claims seem pretty weak for everybody with deep pockets, and if only thothub.tv and the John Does remain in the lawsuit it's 99% going to get dropped.

Also the complaint is really stretching when it tries to call what thothub is doing as "extortion". Like, you're basically just not given posting/viewing privileges unless you do copyright infringement. That's not threatening or using physical violence to get money or other valuables. The complaint still works when it's merely limited to copyright infringement, though, as that is on the magic RICO list, and I don't really blame the lawyer for making the stretch.

Epic Games added in their own option for in-app payments in their iOS Fortnight app, which causes Apple to immediately pull the plug. Epic has already filed a lawsuit over it seeking injunctive relief https://cdn2.unrealengine.com/apple-complaint-734589783.pdf

They're also doing a PR campaign, so it looks like a coordinated multi-pronged approach. Tim Sweeney (CEO of Epic Games) is maaaaaaad.

This is really not a fight they should want to pick.
They're going incredibly hard, Epic filed an anti-trust lawsuit against Apple and have been going on a media blitz

Epic has been planning for this lawsuit, they had videos, a 65 page doc, shit ready to go.

Sounds like an amazingly dumb idea. Aren't they enough of a financial catastrophe already?

They aren't seeking any damages in the lawsuit, this seems like it's personal for Tim Sweeney and/or strategic lawfare from the Chinese government.

So they're carrying all their own costs and intend to blow through $100 million or so with no financial return whatsoever? Like I said, financial catastrophe.

A Feud in Wolf Kink Erotica Raises a Deep Legal Question

Update from one of the authors:

Seen here: The Passive Voice

In both books, the women try and fail to suppress their pheromones and give in to the urge to mate. In both books, the couples sniff, purr and growl; nest in den-like enclosures; neck-bite to leave “claim” marks; and experience something called “knotting,” involving a peculiar feature of the wolf phallus.

Made me laugh, for some reason. If this sort of thing isn't welcome in this thread, I'll not post more, should I find it.

What's this about? I'd love to know more.

He left THHS prior to Sirius so that sounds so odd to me.

There's a law on the books in CA regarding use of a celebrity without their permission for commercial gain; he's basically saying that Sirius' use of him in rebroadcasts of episodes/segments featuring him is doing just that. There was a fairly decent write-up on the bit in the Hollywood Reporter. As the article points out, this usually hasn't worked in the past, but...well, it isn't like John has anything better to do with his time, I suppose.

That's really weird because I can't imagine he'd have the rights to those broadcasts. Didn't Sirius purchase the rights to broadcast those shows from CBS viacom? It's weird.
Would they all have to get royalties?

I don't know about any royalties he's getting; he wasn't really getting paid very much even when he was with the show, and he left before the big payday with the Sirius deal. So I'm not really sure if his contract actually even gave him residuals or anything.

But SiriusXM definitely own the rights to broadcast the shows in whole or in part. He probably has no hope of winning, but it lead to some quality lols as the suit develops.

That's so odd. For a period of time, he was an unpaid intern.

And we all already know that satellite radio doesn't need to comply with broadcast laws.

Is there some way to turn the riot thread into an actual discussion thread? At the moment, it's a post-only thread where psychos shit out their lunacy. Is there some way to generate lolcows out of it?

Honestly I think it's a lost cause. The riots themselves have slowed down or become repetitive, we get a few clips a night, and the rest is people trying to hash out WTF is going on with the world. Someone tried an "off topic riots thread" spinoff, we'll see if that helps.

If nothing else it does seem to help the people trying to stay sane in Clown World 2020, but as a coherent thread it's probably beyond salvaging. At least the worst offenders are gone by now.

Why is there absolutely no discussion of Scott v Moon part 6 happening?. Melinda was just granted HER FIRST VICTORY by the Court, by means of a default judgement because @Null never replied.

Very confusing.

While I understand it would be 4D chess to just accept what amounts to an unenforceable judgement to leave her seething and madly writing Motions For Relief in perpetuity, it still seems strange.
She has a Zoom conference scheduled where she is to make a case for damages, which will result in hilarity for those of us with PACER accounts, and humiliation for Smelly.

Seeing as she accused the Judge of bias and demanded his recusal, my sincere hope is that he awards her $1.00 or similar, which would cost her somewher in the neighbourhood of $5000.00 minimum to collect, making her "victory" phyrric.
